5 Weekend Early Mornings on 5FM

Eish guys... you know the story by now

We put Mtha to the test to get to her REAL age...

It's just a free venting session at this point

Please could I kindly break up with my partner at your fine establishment

DAD!!! I'm pregnant :)

Qiniso came through and reviewed a product - can you guess what it os!

There are South Africans who’d never EVER consider becoming an All Black rugby supporter, so we begged them…

The request a laser hair boutique would not expect...

On Friday you had a whole plan. The garage, the gym, the admin, that friend you keep not seeing. It's 4:42 on Sunday and the country confesses what it actually did instead.

In 2015 a woman sang a song about making crumble on a Casio balanced on an ironing board and walked out with a Golden Buzzer. Eleven years later it still refuses to die, so we gave it a South African rewrite.

THIS HAD US FLOORED!

A kind... polite... request to Mzanzi's hairdressers

A number goes on Mtha's forehead, the entire country can see it, and he gets ten questions to work it out. He never asks the clean ones, which is exactly where this goes wrong.

Darling has an update from the All Blacks game

O-O-O-yeaaaah!

WhatsApp is moving 100 billion messages a day and a worrying number of them are a cartoon frog instead of an actual answer. Tom and Mtha come for the grown adults who communicate exclusively in stickers.

The All Blacks are on a full South African tour for the first time in thirty years, and most of you were not even born the last time it happened. So Tom and Mtha ask what you have waited longest for, and whether it was actually worth it once it arrived.

How good is 5 Nations hearing....

Lethu dropped out of uni and his mother was NOT HAPPY!

Can you arrest? Please!!!

Tom calls his best friend and agrees with every ridiculous answer to “guess what?” One tiny lie quickly spirals into a completely unhinged story.

One celebrity, one fight and their entire fortune on the line. Listeners reveal whose bank account is worth catching hands for.

Dissh is giving parents two extra weeks of paid leave every year until their child turns 12. Great policy or a raw deal for child-free employees?

Some couples avoid conflict. Others secretly love the drama. Tom and Mtha ask whether a good argument can actually be part of the fun.

Three glasses. One contains vinegar. Tom and Mtha must take a sip, keep a straight face and convince everyone they drank something else.

The Waste Your Time Phone Line is back with another beautifully pointless call. This time, the mission is simple: ask for cake that maybe goes against the bakers morals

Comrades morning hits different. From dark-road spectators to nervous spouses, shuttles, water tables and early-morning chaos, we check in with the people living the race-day madness across KZN.

Elon Musk is rich, weirdly fascinating, and somehow always in the news. We unpack the SpaceX hype, the money, and why the world can’t stop talking about him.

A wildly specific phone call, one strange request, and a pet parrot that may or may not be welcome. It’s pointless, awkward, and exactly the kind of time-wasting we love.

Inspired by Theo James trying a South African accent, we’re opening the lines for listeners to show off their best impressions, accents, and full-on character switches.

Could Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce really be planning a massive Madison Square Garden wedding? We unpack the rumours, the drama, and how believable it all actually is.

They say if a friendship survives seven years, it might last forever. We’re talking ride-or-die besties, surprise friendships, ghosting, and the ones that quietly faded.

We switch on Sista Botina and let her respond to “Bafana Bafana!?!?!?” and “That’s it.” Chaos, confusion, comedy, and AI-style attitude incoming.

The Waste Your Time Phone Line is open, and this time Black Forest Bakery gets hit with the most ridiculous job interview ever. It starts awkward, gets worse, and ends exactly where it should: with someone getting very annoyed.

Apparently, friendship takes 50, 90, or even 200 hours to build, but does working together for years mean you can read each other’s minds? Tom and Mtha put their friendship to the test with a very unscientific sentence-finishing experiment.

A baboon at a game reserve was caught casually eating off a plate like it paid for the buffet. We react to the viral moment and ask: what’s the most human thing you’ve ever seen an animal do?

Lana Del Rey’s husband being an alligator tour guide has us asking: what is the weirdest job title you have ever heard? From “Chief Vibe Officer” to “Director of First Impressions,” we get into the titles that sound fake but somehow pay rent.

Sista Botina is back, and this time Woolies’ bomb-sniffing dogs are catching strays. A rude-bot reaction to the wildest light news of the week, packed with SA-flavoured chaos, robot attitude, and absolutely no respect for Tom and Mtha.

Zinky the dog come in to get her nails done? What starts as a simple pet-grooming enquiry quickly becomes a mission in patience, confusion, and customer service survival. Will they take the booking, question everything, or realise far too late that their time has officially been wasted?

Americans are taking the LSAT for fun online, which got us thinking: could adult us survive the tests students write to get into university? This week on The Unscientific Method, Tom quizzes Mtha with sample NBT-style questions covering academic literacy, quantitative literacy, and maths, all with no calculator, no dictionary, and a bruised ego on standby. Will Mtha prove he still has what it takes to get into uni, or is it time to apologise to every matric student ever?

Some people are always early. Others treat deadlines like polite suggestions. This week on The Unscientific Method, Tom and Mtha test the science of the brain’s internal clock to find out whether punctual people are actually better at feeling time pass. The challenge is simple: shout “STOP” when they think 30 seconds has passed. The twist? They each have to complete distracting tasks while the clock is ticking. Will Tom’s legendary punctuality hold up under pressure, or will Mtha prove that time is just a vibe?

We'd like to see if we can buy some interesting fruits from a strip club...

Pali, our news expert, sees if she can decode fact or fiction news stories... her performance has been terrible up until today!

We all have that phrase we use too often... 5 Nation has some thoughts!

We asked a graphic designer to make an image to help Tom breka up with his "wife" - he didn't like the suggestion!

A massive study tested more than 100,000 people against the latest generative AI systems on creativity tasks, and the results were a little uncomfortable: AI now beats the average human on certain creativity tests. So... what’s one thing you’ll always do better than a robot?

During the World Cup qualifying play-off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and Bosnian goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj got into a heated argument. The dispute sparked during the penalty shootout when Donnarumma attempted to snatch and destroy Vasilj's "cheat sheet" containing notes on Italian penalty takers.

Someone on Reddit found and Organ transplant container in a FIELD? WTH?

Mtha and Tom laugh a lot, mostly at (not with) each other. How long can they sustain this?

YES... another AI conversation but at least this time its interesting. Oprah asked the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, a pretty interesting question and... obvs... we have some thoughts.
