The Great African Story: 12-year old, Alyssa Govenden joins us
WESSA (the Wildlife and Environment Society of South Africa) has announced the 2026 Young Reporters for the Environment national winners, with this year’s focus on food security and climate change.
Among the standout voices is 12-year-old Alyssa Govenden from Crawford International Lonehill, who took top honours in the Podcast Category with her entry “Wasting Food Ruins the Mood.” Her story explores the link between food waste, climate change and hunger in South Africa, while encouraging simple everyday actions that can make a real difference.
