The average number of words spoken per day fell 28% between 2005 - 2019 based on a recent study in the US. 

Audio samples, collected randomly as people went about their daily lives, revealed that while the average person uttered about 16,600 words per day back in 2005, that figure had plummeted to below 12,000 words in 2019.

5N ON THE RADAR - 20s

At least 100 Rhodes University students are sick with gastro at the moment. Could be spread throughout Makhanda, not just the university. 

Calls to be careful with the tap water and rather rely on water from dining halls. 

Kirsten was in Makhanda in the middle of this year and can attest to the fact that the drinking water is widely claimed as unsafe. 

Kirsten is also a major advocate for drinking tap water. That has recently been tested though.
