The fifth Basadi in Music Awards will be broadcast across two nights on SABC2 and SABC Plus: the Main Awards on Saturday, 29 August at 21:00, followed by the Vanguard Awards on Sunday, 30 August at 21:00.

For five years, the Basadi in Music Awards have worked to ensure that the women shaping African music and entertainment are not only heard, but properly seen, celebrated and remembered.

This year’s milestone edition, themed REWIND: Your BIMA, Your Way, unfolded across two nights at the Joburg Theatre, honouring major recording artists as well as the presenters, producers, managers, journalists, stylists and other women helping to power the industry behind the scenes.

Those celebrations are now coming to television and one of the winners is very much part of the 5FM family. Boipelo “Radio Bae” Mooketsi was named Entertainment Radio Presenter of the Year.

She joins us in studio alongside entertainment attorney and Basadi in Music Awards Advisory Board member Manaileng Maphike to look back at five years of Basadi, the importance of recognising women across the entire creative ecosystem and, of course, to celebrate Radio Bae’s big win.
