5B PAP AND POLITICS - TALKING ABOUT FORMER ANC MP VINCENT SMITH, THE FIRST STATE CAPTURE-RELATED SENTENCE AND CONVICTION WITH WAYNE DUVENAGE, CEO OF THE ORGANISATION UNDOING TAX ABUSE (OUTA).

View descriptionShare

Former ANC MP Vincent Smith was sentenced to an effective 7 years behind bars for corruption, the first high-profile politician to see the inside of a jail cell since the State Capture report was handed to President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2022. While this marks a milestone in the fight against corruption, there are concerns over the slow pace at which graft-related matters are being concluded before the courts. Thabo Baloyi speaks to Wayne Duvenage, the CEO of the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) about what the future holds for other figures implicated in corruption.
