On the show: Carla is back in the chair to kick off September and celebrates fathers past and present on Fathers Day!

Speaking of dads, Today Extra’s own David Campbell and his famous rocker father Jimmy Barnes have been recognised as joint Australian Father of the Year recipients for 2024. David joins Carla to talk about this honour, his own journey with his own father and how that has impacted his approach with his three wonderful children. David also gives us an update on Jimmy Barnes’ recovery from recent surgery.

It’s been a big week in news, with Carla discussing dealing with repeat youth offenders as residents of Goondiwindi and Boggabilla call out for help amidst a spate of crime across the region. We also hear more about how Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has fallen short in promises to fix the Bruce Highway following a number of casualties this week alone. We hear your feedback on these issues.

It's also been a big week politically. For the Sunday Breakdown, Carla is joined by broadcaster and newshound Jason Morrison. From Treasurer Jim Chalmers labelling Opposition Leader Peter Dutton as "dangerous" and unfit to be PM to when the federal election will be called to Annastacia Palaszczuk’s apparent snubbing of Steven Miles when she was asked if she would endorse him; James gives his insights into the big issues.

In Local issues today: Carla speaks with one dad who is counting his extra blessings today. Chris Baran and his wife Eliana, welcomed identical twin sisters Charlotte and Veronica two months early on 20 August after health complications during Eliana’s pregnancy required immediate c-section. The girls now are receiving 24/7 care at the NCCU at Mater Mothers’ Hospital, and Chris joins Carla to tell us how he is celebrating Father’s Day in the best possible care, with the best possible company.

Elsewhere on the show: Brisbane native Clara Fable is the fire breathing queen from the new show LIMBO - THE RETURN, which has its Queensland premiere  at the West End Electric this month. Clara joins Carla to tell us more about what we can expect from this exciting new show.

PLUS: 4BC Sports Report Sam Leckie provides an extensive update on the weekend action, and we look ahead to the coming week with your long-range weather forecast.
