On the show today: Gardening Hour sees Olympia and Arno King discuss preparing beds for planting beautiful and bright Hippeastrums, especially great as they are on sale at the moment. Arno also identifies an invasive weed, provides tips for growing cape gooseberries and talks about how plants survive in the wild without fertiliser. PLUS Arno’s plant of the week: the QLD Blue Pumpkin! A winter veg favourite. 

In the second hour, Dry July kicks off for many tomorrow and Burleigh’s Sobah Beverages has you covered. Proud Gamilaraay man, psychologist, and founder of Sobah Beverages brewery, Dr Clinton Schultz, joins Olympia to talk about what they offer and why there is still a bit of stigma around being sober in social situations. 
It’s also the last day to donate to the Salvos Red Shield Appeal! So we hear from Goodna Chaplain Micalie Adamson who tells us more about her story and the important work the Salvos do.
PLUS another edition of Olympia’s Food Olympics! Umar Nguyen from The Fish Girl joins Olympia to deep dive into the Australian seafood industry and how she is using AI to help with sustainability practices in her businesses.

Paul offers ideas for gingers, heliconias and more that you might like to try. Paul also answers your questions about getting rid of a pesky Strelitzia, the best fertiliser to use for jade plants and Paul is tested on his knowledge of the Mexicala Rose. PLUS Paul introduces his plant of the day: African Wild Pear (Dombeya) - a beautiful flowering plant that isn’t actually a pear, but more closely related to Hibiscus. 

In the second hour; Olympia hears from the mother of a 16-year-old with Autism, whose order was refused at a Toowoomba restaurant. Cherie Pugno explains what happened to her daughter Mia and the response they have had from the manager of the Newtown Hotel in Toowoomba where Mia tried to dine.
