Christmas is almost here which means presents and new toys for the kids and the grandkids.

As a result, there is a higher chance of curious kids sticking things like Lego, marbles and crayons up their nose or eating them.

University of Queensland Lecturer Dr Anna Girardi told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, 'they like to explore, they're naturally curious that's how they learn about the world.'

Parents will know they gravitate towards the thing they're not meant to be touching because it's new and it's exciting,' she said.
