During the Ash Wednesday fires of February 1983 and in the days following, 3AW dropped regular programming and turned itself over to the public for on the spot assistance, followed by fundraising that only the immediacy of radio could offer.

This "tape" from the personal collection of the late Bruce Mansfield, contains part one of a narrative of how the events unfolded, with actuality from 3AW's own Brian White, Mark Day, Derryn Hinch, Denis O'Kane, and David Mann.
