Australia has refused a request from Ukraine to donate its out-of-commission Taipan helicopter fleet for use as air ambulances.

Australia's 45 helicopters will instead be dismantled, stripped and buried, with the federal government claiming it's "not feasible" to return the aircraft to an operational state.
