The Australian Medical Association has released its yearly Public Hospital Report Card and it shows the performance of Australian hospitals is in a critical long-term decline. 

Patients are continuing to suffer as a result of a logjammed public hospital system, with emergency department and planned surgery waiting times remaining far below pre-COVID levels. 

Similarly, the number of hospital beds per head of population for those aged over 65 is now the lowest on record.
