Treasurer Jim Chalmers has launched a bold new proposal designed to stop the closure of rural banks .

The Treasurer emailed bank executives this week outlining how they may be forced to pay a levy, costing up to tens of millions dollars a year, if they don’t keep enough rural and regional branches open. 

Luke Grant spoke with Federal Nationals Leader, David Littleproud, to get his thoughts on the proposal and what the Coalition would do to cease the closures of bank branches in the bush.
