Every parent's worst nightmare is discovering their child is being targeted by a sexual predator online.
Concerningly, the behaviour is more common than many parents expect: with at least 2 images or videos of child sexual abuse are shared on the internet and one in six kids experiencing a form of online sexual abuse before they turn 18.
A new documentary, ‘The Shadows of the Web: Protecting our Children in the Digital World’ has been released which shines a light on the dangers of the internet, the role big tech companies play and how parents can start conversations with their child about the risks of using social media.
Luke Grant speaks with Sonya Ryan OAM, founder of the Carly Ryan foundation about the horrific circumstances that saw her daughter murdered by an online predator, how parents can start conversations about these issues and her involvement in the documentary.
