This is a podcast called twenty five Wists talking.
Basketball and they are wearing a whist So, yeah, it's too bad, But what did you expect.
It's a podcast called twenty.
Five whistling line. We actually have the singer of the jingle, Brandon Ray and studio with that's.
Well, what a day? What a day?
Wow?
Did you know how popular you aren't sport in the sports world. I have no idea. It's say it's a finding Sugarman. Yes, that's a great documentary. The guy has no idea. Yeah that he is super famous in South that's South Africa and Brandon put the guitar down, did okay? Yeah, that documentary. If you've not seen it, who has seen it? I've heard about it. I haven't seen it. I want to dude, you have to watch it. You especially have to watch it.
Guy's name is Rodriguez and like he made no money he was pretty much homeless, had a music career, but it never mounted anything. Turns out that somebody had taken his music and distributed all over South America and he was wildly famous over there, and he had no idea.
It was like a burnt CD. Yeah, and caught on. They started to produce it, and then people they were like it was it was so big. People were like illegally producing it, saying it with somebody, and then we don't spoil it. But he was wildly famous in another part of the world. So what we're telling you is like sports people everywhere love you and you had no idea. That's hey, I'm honored your sugarman. You're sugarman. Hey, that's man. Did you blow the whistle?
I did?
I did?
Okay. A couple of things to talk about as we start this. This is getting loaded midnight as Friday morning starts, so at this point I have already this is Schrodinger's cat. Yeah, if you guys are familiar with Schrodinger's cat Eddie, wouldn't you least know.
About schro I don't know what that means, but I know what you're saying. I know exactly what you're trying to say, but I don't know what that means. What do you mean Schroeder is either the Peanuts guy?
Uh no, just taking to Charles Schultz. No, I think Schroeder is like one of the characters and Charlie Brown Peanuts that was written by Charles. Yes, who are you talking about? Who are you talking?
No?
I want to know more about where you're mine before I go to mind. I wanted like to know where your mind went. Schroeder. He's a character in Peanuts. So what you say is cat. I don't know what character in Peanuts you're talking.
It might be the.
Dirty one or is that in that TA look up Schroeder. Schroder is one of the dudes, is one who plays the piano.
There we go, huh okay, but I have no idea what that has to do with what you're trying to say.
It doesn't, it has nothing. It's just not the same thing at all, does the piano virtuoso guy?
Okay, it's also not the right name that you're thinking over.
Yeah it all? Yeah, yeah, okay, So so thank you Eddie. Charles Schultz shrowed to the player, all that I'm not the same got it? So I will. Schrodinger's Cat is an experiment where there's a cat in a box basically, and it's and I won't even do the superposition thing. But the cat is both alive and dead until you open the box. Okay, there's poison in the box. Until you know the cat is both dead and alive. Is it really no? But you don't know. So it's fate is linked to the sub atomic event, which is the poison. Does it spill and kill the cat or is wow? So my point is deep No, just wait, I'll make it easier and worse. Arkansas's in that box right now. Huh.
You have no idea.
The Razorbacks played as you've heard this. The game is over, but they both won and lost right now because they are still in the box to me as we record this. So they're the cat with the poison. The Arkansas Razorback basketball team. They're playing at nine o'clock our times of seven local in San Francisco, and they're playing Texas Tech. And that's the cat. And I hope to god that box is open when you hear this. The cat's alive.
What I like about you is you're a very realistic person. You know, like, yeah, you're not at like a oh, I just because I want it to happen. This is what I believe. So what do you think is in the box?
Truly, I think we lose by five, We probably go down by twelve or thirteen, make a little run to get it within two or three, and they kind of close the deal win by four or five. City around in that at the end, that would be, Hey, pick us a specific situation, and if you're right, I'll give you money. That would be the situation that would pick. That doesn't mean I love them any less, because I love nothing more, but that cat's dead. In my mind, cat is dead very well, and I can't wait saying this is what I was bringing up next. So if that cat's alive, and I'll say that next Monday and Tuesday, I'll be filling in for Rich Eyes and still doing the Bobby Bone Show in the morning. But then I'm gonna be filling in for Rich Eyes and on his radio and TV show Monday and Tuesday. And that's in Los Angeles. But if if the cats alive at the end of the night on Thursday night, you hear this. On Friday, they have a game on Saturday, San Francisco. I may have to go see the alive cat. And now both Eddie and Reed are going with me, and we'd have to I would love to see the live cat. Have to question, is I mean, could you go?
Ed?
He's got a family.
That's a good question. I'd have to talk with the boss about that cats.
We don't know the cats the cats.
But who knows. It may not even need to be a conversation we need to have because we don't know if the cat's alive. But dang, that'd be cool.
Man.
You should present it like that to the boss cat.
Like Snoopy Woodstock. Okay, just picture this so if the cats alive, no, no, but here's also I can also there's a meet in the medal which is nice, a little diamond ryo. Possibly possibly I can't even go, depending probably I can, and we would fly. We'd fly out their private but it'd be on a Saturday. But if you couldn't go, you would just I just fly southwest on Sunday in l A. And that kind of suck. But you're not used to flying.
Yeah, I don't flying southwest. That's a big difference, you know, that's my thing, right, like, I like saying that out loud in the Southwest flight and people and watch people go like, who's that douchebag?
Yeah, that's what I remember with flying flying with you, You're like, oh, this never happens when I fly.
And somebody always turns around. Dang dude, is okay, Hey, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
And I almost don't want to say it because of the jinks, but I think the cat outweighs the jinks. So I would love for Arkansas Wind. Now that leads me to my next couple of things, because they do have some things that specifically I wanted to talk about. And let me do this before I forget number one Russell Wilson playing for the Giants. Yeah, I caught it weird.
Right, yeah, yeah, Jameis Winston, Russell and Tommy Cutlets, you got, you got all of them.
It's weird, but I think it's they weren't a player away anyway.
Yeah.
But now, like this whole thing with drafting a quarterback is probably out the window, right.
But because I think they weren't a quarterback away, I think they can now trade down and be closer to being just a quarterback away So do you hate the Giants? That's your Jets guy, I'm not No, I don't really hate the Giants. They had the the awesome Super Bowl win over the Patriots and O seven.
So I think that little.
Do you hate the Patriots more, the Giants more as the Jets hats more? Yeah, okay, that's fair. Oh I didn't know same city. I hadn't up with the right. Yeah yeah, no, yeah, because the Giants are more like Eagles and Cowboys.
That's their big rivalries, so they have the East.
The Giants reached to the Granmar with Super Bowl winning quarterback one year deal worth the twenty one million bucks. The ten time Pro Bowl selection has been in discussions with the Giants, the Browns, and the Steelers. Hey, you know who is the real winner so far is Kenny Pickett because he goes to Cleveland and then the day he goes to Cleveland, Russ is also in the building and he's like, I thought I was getting a shot at this job. He wouldn't have got a shot at the job at Cleveland, signed Russ. I think a little small hands pickets hand yeah, yeah, yeah, poor guy. I think he has a shot to play even if they draft. What are they two there to Yeah, so eight door. Even if they do take a quarterback, I still think he probably plays a lot because they suck. They did not, So it's interesting. That means probably to Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers almost certainly, almost certainly.
Almost certainly.
But nothing is certain about Aaron Rodgers exactly.
He's an enigma.
You know.
I did see to find Diggs to the Patriots. Yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna be with his brother, and okay, that's why I remember. It affected both of you. So Eddie with thought, you're a Cowboys guy, could go to the Cowboys.
We want a little family together. That'd be great for team morale, but not gonna happen.
Yeah, and he the Patriots. It's a love hate thing. At first, I was like, that's a lot of money, but they can cut out after the first year, and I think it's twenty six or twenty nine million guaranteed coming off the ACL getting a little bit older. The only thing I'm concerned about is Drake May and the way that Stefan Diggs can kind of rub quarterbacks the wrong way. The last few years. I don't think he really had anything with C. J. Stroud, but Josh Allen, it was pretty clear he wanted him out of there, you'd think, right, So we'll see how it goes. Three years a lot of money, like I said, but if they can cut tie up there one. If it doesn't go, well, I'm happy with that.
What does he talk crapped about his quarterbacks? What was he doing? I think he's just a difficult person to play with. He will ask. Then that's a diva esque position, like you have to be to be good at it, like that's part of it. But then there's kind of a line. But yeah, I think not the easiest to to have a living relationship with because he's really good.
Really good, and at the end of the day, I'm like, Okay, well he's still better, way better than anybody that we have on the roster. So that's all I really care about.
So here we go. Let's talk draft then. So Travis Hunter, you know that was the guy and if he does was he gonna play quarterback, cornerback mostly and receive So does that signing do you think that affects what the pass are gonna do?
Yeah, I think they're gonna go line, whether it's defense or offense. Probably offense, especially still with Rabel. No matter what, I think they'll go offensive line, whether it's a Campbell or under another kid because his arms are too short. So I don't think it affects it.
No, do you think they move down because they I hope they do, because if it's not Travis Hunter and they don't need a quarterback, why would you stay at four four year four? I agreecause any of those guys you want to get there, you can probably get eight thirteen.
Yeah, in those spots, I'm right there with you. I hope that they do trade down. Somebody wants Hunter moves up, gets another first round pick or a couple of seconds, whatever it might be, and then grab an offensive lineman and then just kind of still build internally in the trenches, as they say, for Drake.
May one more thing and we have a lot to do today, but one more thing before I jump. I've been on Auburn to win the whole thing, about a thousand bucks on Auburn the beginning of the tournament to win at all. They've been playing pretty consistent. Nobody's really picking Auburn now to win at all. They were the number one one seed based on their entire season. They're not the flashiest. Duke looks freaking awesome. They're just killing everybody that comes their way. Duke Houston Houston to me, what's my analogy? Is it Schroeder this time? Or it's a good question. Brandon Houston to me was c J. Stroud last year and now I'm gonna make this analogy. I was killing it every week, but he was also rookie and people were like, wow, rookie. Eventually rookie suck and they're not going to win much in the playoffs. Houston is always good. Houston's good, Yeah, but eventually the rookiness catches up with them every year. And Calvisam's awesome also as a coach. But I just never believe in them because I've never seen a rookie quarterback won Super Bowl. You know why, because it doesn't happen. I've never seen Houston win a national championship, even though they're freaking awesome. So I don't believe. I don't believe in them. I don't believe in Houston, even though they are really freaking good. Florida, They're they're probably if I could re bet at the team, I would re bet it on really just bet it on Duke and every ell them. No, I don't hate Duke, but I would hate betting on Duke.
That's I mean, that's how I'm like with Arkansas. Like even if I look at the game and be like, oh, they can't win this, I'll never bet that game.
But also it's too flashy. I don't want to bet what's too flashy in these tournaments because the teams are always man, they look the best, they're gonna win. They rarely do yeh Yukon. When they look flashy, they on the whole Oh Yukon. Just they won by an average of thirteen points every game they were even flashy. That wasn't even flash that was just domination dominant. So I'm still sitting Obviously, I still have Auburn. I haven't cashed out because I haven't my money back yet to cash out. I don't think I would cash out unless they made it to the finals. I think they do man so, So the situation is if they're playing in the in the region over the Arkansas playing in and if they win, then Arkansas Arkansas went they play each other. Oh here's my thing though, So uh, Duke a plus two ten of the favorite betting Florida plus three point fifty, Houston and Auburn a plus five hundred so tied there for third. Then Tennessee, which I think Tennessee Woodshed's Kentucky even though Kentucky's beating them twice. Uh, Texas Tech and Alabama and the Michigan State. So I didn't have Arkansas didn't make the list. Things of Kentucky. You can't even bet on this. They're like, we don't, we don't want it. If you're going to make this decision, you need the money, keep the money.
It is.
But they don't make that one two, three, four, five, six seven. They don't make the top half. Yeah. So but I did message my new friend, the head coach Texas Tech. Oh yeah, yesterday I read it to you. I typeot so much though, dude, you need to double check your tech. No, it's my whole life. It's every I think there's something wrong with me because I type away all the time, even when I don't try. So he's coach Grant Mac. So I message him and I'm like, I don't care. I'm not take it. I mean I like him, yeah, and I like Tech. If I'm not playing us and for some reason, I felt like he needed to know that, okay, that I wasn't rooting for him.
Is that what you texted?
Yeah, I want to know. Well, that's why I wrote him. And you can see I'm not about this. Hey, you gro out on the Sweet sixteen. You guys seem to the novice to be playing very disciplined. So but I do take back good luck the rest of the way. I repledge it. If you win, I hope you don't have a good week, Coach, that's so. And then you reply back, appreciate you and wouldn't want you to do it any other way. Support your hogs looking forward to it, coach n I thought that was pretty awesome. I don't know why he did not. I didn't sign a whoop pig though, But I don't know why I felt the need to tell him I wasn't rooting for him, Like that's I just did it. And then I was like, why did I need to tell him I wasn't rooting for him?
That's just funny, man, I love that. That's just you, that's what you do.
But I was like trying to prove a point. And I think maybe because I was like I'm rooting for you the whole week. Because I said that to him, I'm like, well, I'm not. I wanted it. I didn't want to be like, oh, you know, he's in a meeting. He's like no, no, Bob's rooting for us, and he has to find out I'm not. So I wanted to mess Gym to say I am not rooting for you. I will be back, but I'm not. So that's happened. So I wanted to share that. Have two other quick stories here. Story number two. I do have another new best friend, and this is my this is my new well, Eddie's my best friend.
Who is this person?
Wait a minute, Eddie's my best friend, but this is my new best friend. And it's Brian Anderson, who does to play with play for TNT. Do you know he's a voice of two K what.
You like when you start it up?
He's the play by play. No way, dude, it's crazy. So that's legit. He came on earlier this week. He called four games on day one of the tournament, two days on day two, two games day two, and so I just sent through the person who book show and say, hey, he was awesome. Send on my cel phone number, and I don't know if he needs anything or comes to Nashville wants tickets, like, hit me up. So he hits me up at twelve fifty eight am. It's almost noon that that day, right, Oh wow, it's a I enjoyed the pot.
Him up.
If you're ever an m k E, which I'm assuming is Milwaukee. Yes, yes, he said, you're a golfer, and he signed his name. Because I didn't know where the number was coming from. I said, hey, man, you're awesome. Same here in Nashville. Have a great rest of the week. Because he does Brewers games too, So I said, if you do Cubs and Brewers, I may come up like if he's doing the game. And so I sent a picture of meat on the first pitch at regularly, just to show I still got the heat letting. I got that still, I got a little of them tanks.
Hey, that must have taken you a long time to find that.
Go ahead to go for a while, to sco for a while, and he said, I appreciate that. Mutual admirations. Lefty nice. He said, Hey, I'm actually working two different series of Wrigley this year. You should come, And he gave it some a couple of days, let's go, and he says, do about fifty all read it all, it's about fifty Brewers games TP by bye bye bah. And then but he was like, here's some dates come up, Come come Wrigley do cut.
That's awesome.
You're really gonna hit him up on it?
I don't know, maybe, but he was like, I'll introduce you to Craig, which Craig counseled the manager who was the Brewers managers now the Cubs manager. But this is my new It might have been my new number one.
If you weigh it, like what can I give you?
Okay? And then I have one other thing you give me. Mike Dieck can introduce you to Mike Davie, Like.
All, Eddie's got his friendship, I know, And sometimes I just love dude.
That's it.
And sometimes it ain't enough. It's not. And here's the other one, which I think has been bizarrely beautiful.
Is another friendship.
Yes, well, another potential friendship that I thought there was no reason for me to think this friendship. Whatever happened. And I can play a little game first where you can try to guess it and then tell you how it happened. We have had either people come to us for the show or too much access, or we have gone to them. And I would say our success rate has gotten a lot higher the more episodes we've done, because we proved we have a pretty good product. There's been one basketball team that's that does not college. It's not even opened us coming like. It's just been like, nah, I know that is Yeah you do Yep, Yeah, they're they're regional.
Yep.
Who Tennessee?
Yeah? Oh no, I didn't think I because I hate Tennessee yours.
Oh no, no, I know who Ku.
Correct. So Kansas has and we and we've done Kansas State and we've done so I don't care.
Oh Kansas got you. I was thinking Kentucky. I was like, what do you want to do?
That be?
Okay?
Got it?
Yeah? And so I I if we never go to Kansas, all good. But I don't hate Kansas. It's just they never had interest. I get it. And some coaches personalities want to do stuff and some don't. I never reached out to Kansas. I posted a picture and I don't want to share too much this guy's information, but posted a picture of my wife and I we were in Europe or something, and he had responded in a DM that goes into like the generals, that's not into my normals, because somebody, I'm so famous that I have my own category that I don't see all of them. This is the fame. It's so tough.
Lots of friends.
Yeah, and so but he looked like pretty normal when it was a dude, pretty normal dude. And he said something and it was a really nice comment about something that had happened in his life. Nothing else. Didn't ask for anything. That's this fan. And I just said, oh, I really appreciate you saying that and thank you. That's super kind of you. And from that we just started talking. And he has a job and he does not live in Kansas.
Oh.
We were playing Arkansas was playing Kansas, and that's what it was. You know, it's I'm an Arkansas fan.
The first round, right, yeah, yep.
And so he was a good job beating Kansas. He said, I know Bill. I don't know if you know Bill or not. And this time I'm thinking Clinton, Bill Ny the science guy, not Bill right all that, and so I'm like, oh, cool, he's like you ever met him? I said no, but I have a friend, and I have a friend that's the head of the SEC Officiating Committee. He's the head official of the SEC. I said, done a bunch of Bill selfs games and really likes him. I said, We've tried to do stuff with them, but he doesn't acknowledge our existence, not in a way of like anything other than that's why I don't know him. I've tried, but either way, I'm good. I got Eddie, Now, I got Brian Anderson.
Yeah, I don't forget him.
And he's like, I'll give away to his details. He's like, I'm gonna talk to mex a couple of days. And I was like, well, do it, No need I don't. You don't have to like do that. He's like, no, like if they're like, you're like a normal nice guy. He goes, what schools have you been to? Just so I can tell him the center the whole sheet. And he's like, oh, my god, you've done every freaking school around there ever, especially not only around there, but like NBA teams. He's like, oh, you guys do it. It's a real thing. And I said yeah, and he goes, I just talked to Bill. Here's a cell phone number. Just call him.
On Jesus, just call him.
I'm just calling I'm going to call him right now. I'm never calling him. It's not even that I did, Hey, let's call. It's not even a pro or con him. But he's just like, hey to talk to Bill. Here's the number, give them a call to set it up. And I'm like, I will I will never call that number. I said, well, what about like, I'll go through somebody. He goes. Bill's not that kind of guy. He'll just handle and get it set up. And I'm going on, I will never call that number because I want to bother him.
How would you even start that call?
And it's like, so this guy messaged me on Instagram, right, You'll never believe. So I have two friends and one semi potential friend, Bill self. Even if I never message him, it's always potential. It's Sharker's cat a friendship. It's in the box. Who knows if I would like him or not like him.
So that's funny that that happened, and you're not gonna call him. I have to. Kevin's like, do it?
I do. I honestly don't know how you would I hear you. I wouldn't call, though, I would text. My history though of knowing coaches and texts non responsive and not because they don't like you. Most coaches I know, they are just so hyper focused on everything outside of their phone. Yeah, I have that. That's pretty amazing, it's pretty crazy. Okay, I'm gonna do this.
That's okay.
Though, I'd let you have Bill self as a best friend. I'll do that's fine. But Brian Anderson only, and also now you're your buddy from oh and coach he was part of the buddy list.
Yeah, it's not not not for one day though, right, hate.
Well, I call this mccasleon's box. So either right now, as this errors, I love him again I hate him. You have no idea, that's right. Okay, So let's build a parlay here. H Friday's games.
Hey, last week the second Yeah, Saturday took a lot of underdogs to cover when it happened.
Just throw that out there.
On Saturday, I hit three parlays in a row.
Wow, you hit three parlays? How many game parlays? Uh?
Two of them were three, I believe in one was two?
Dangs that Why are you one of the fantasy shirt Today's.
Yeah, I went on a spending screen, buddy.
That's good, thank you. So we got four games here, two of them are close, so I'm gonna go money line on the two close ones. Michigan State's a three and a half point favorite, but I'm gonna take almost money line. And do you know why no, as he's hey seven to the sixteen teams. The rest of see teams, well at least they were until the box.
Yeah.
Yeah, but we're doing Friday's games Kentucky and Tennessee. Tennessee's four and a half point favorite. I'm gonna take ole Miss money line and Tennessee money line, right, I'm gonna take those two winners, and then what the Auburn line is? Crazy? It's minus nine and a half. Oh wow against Michigan. That seems so high. Yeah, that I'm gonna take it because I know I'm wrong about this stuff, like what you do. I would never take that, I would say that's so high. I would never So that's why I'm picking it. Auburn minus nine and a half. So we got ole Miss money line, Tennessee money line, Auburn minus nine and a half.
You're gonna be puckered for the first half of that game because it's probably gonna be closed and you're like, oh, my guess, and then they're gonna take off second half.

This is my friend Sarah Spain. I used to listen to her on ESPN way back in the day and the first time I met her, I was like, oh, he's listened to you all the time on ESPN, And she was like, how'd you get in here? And I was like, oh, yeah, sorry, I said, Sarah, thank you. That's a good dude. That's good. I expect you guys keep laughing at that. That's kind of stupid. Sarah is super dialed in when it comes to sports in general, but women's sports, especially the NCAA tournament women That tournament's going on right now. She has a great show called Good Game with Sarah Spain that I want you to check out. An Emmy and a Peabody Award winning journalist. Mostly though, like she just knows ball, and so we'll talk like Juju Watkins, that injury, we'll talk NCAA Women's tournament. But then it's just like all bets are off and then somebody screws up real bad and that person want that person wasn't me, But you're about to hear, big fan check out Good Game with Sarah Spain at Sarah Spain on Twitter here she is Sarah Spain. Hey, Sarah, I first want to start with Juju Watkins and acl tear let's just talk about that first because probably ends their run in the tournament, and then I want to go from that. But but your thoughts on how severe this is? What do you know? And then what is USC going to do the rest of the tournament.
Yeah, it's just a huge bummer.
You know, not only is she probably gonna win Player of the Year, and at as a sophomore, is already trying to kind of take the mantle from Caitlin Clark as the face, the name, the player that every body knows. But it's always just terrible to see a season end prematurely. We all wanted to see what would happen if USC ended up facing Yukon, which is what we expected in the Elite eight see Pagebeckers versus Juju Watkins. That's a ratings bonanza and that's the two biggest names really in college women's college basketball right now. So yeah, just really heartbroken for Juju. I will say I don't think USC's tournament is over. Kiki Eriefen had thirty six points and nine boards in their last game, and they're taking out of Kansas State team that honestly I don't think can beat them even without Juju. The question really is mentally, Bobby, when your teammate goes down midgame like that, you see her in a heap on the floor, she gets carried off. You're waiting to hear exactly what the situation is. Maybe you still have hope that she comes back when you get to that next game and you've had a couple of days to be disappointed, to be heartbroken for your teammate. Maybe she's even sitting courtside in a big old brace for this case state game. Mentally, is this team ready to approach the rest of the tournament with a completely different mindset without their you know, top player superstar with.
Them and USC is still a point a half favorite. That line changed drastically once she was fell.
Yeah.
Yeah, Well, as far as the ACL injury goes, so it's so late and again it feels almost like Kyrie in the NBA, where that injury was so late that it's going to affect next year, almost the whole season with him next year. So same thing here with Juju Watkins. This ACL tair, how severe is it or what do we know about it? And as far as next year goes, is she going to be able to be one hundred percent when the season starts.
Yeah, so the last thing we heard was just from USC officially that she would be out for the rest of the tournament. Then we had sources reporting the ACL tair. So the last I've seen from USC, my guess is that they haven't come out with an official notice about the injury because they're trying to see if there are other related injuries. You know, oftentimes with an ACL, you might have an MCL, you might have other knee issue who's in addition to the a saltaur So I think they're probably just trying to figure out the extent of the damage before they revealed the diagnosis and the prognosis in terms of how long it'll take these injuries and these surgeries are better than ever here in Chicago. One of the NWSL players for the Chicago Star, Sam Stopp, came back way faster than expected. So I think it is dependent on the player, the rehab, how well the surgery goes. But yeah, it's pretty late, and I think what we know about Juju is if you're not super familiar with the women's game, people have been asking me like, oh, she's going to be number one in the draft, right, Like she's got to go, and I'm like, oh, you know, on the women's side, there are age requirements. You have to play X number of years and or meet a certain age in order to be eligible for the WNBA draft. At least with the current CBA that might change. But with Juju, she's only a sophomore, so I don't know how much it might cut into next season, whether that ends up being something where she'll save eligibility or whether she's in a rush to get to the next level. So a lot of that will just depend on her recovery well.
And also there's a massive pay disparity too, where you Juju A make a lot more money playing at USC than what digit not.
Necessarily because with the WNBA you get your salary and you still get all those sponsorships, you know, nil money can be tied to universities for areas and for sports in particular where your peak earning power is as a collegiate athlete, where you know, softball, for instance, is a sport where the world, you know, the World Series, the you know, college World Series for women is such a big deal that they sometimes can make more endorsements and stuff in their college years, but in the WNBA. You now you get a salary. You can add another two hundred k plus a year in Unrivaled. If you join that league and you get all the sponsorships and deals you were getting in.
College, you gotta go play another league though, too. Three and three is pretty fun. I like three on three did yeah?
I mean Unrivaled. They put it together well and they're getting paid. What did you thinke on one tournament alone?
Would you?
I thought it was a blast. I thought it was a blast.
I think part of it for me is if you know the women's game and you know these players well, you're fascinated to see them mixed up and playing together. And you also love to see the ISOs where you get to see skill sets that maybe didn't recognize. I think you know, if you tend to watch men's hoops, you have to imagine if you took the thirty three best NBA players and dropped them into Miami for eight weeks and got to see all these rivals playing on the same team for the first time the one on one tournament.
I don't know if you.
Saw Kevin Durant and some other NBA players saying I don't know how they beat us to this, but we got to do this. And the question is whether the NBA guys have a willingness to put their egos on the line in a one on one because I loved watching that and what we learned from that, like especially about the unicorns and the bigs. I thought it was gonna be a lot of guards with some nifty ball handling skills working their way around the bigs, and it ended up being one guard in the final four players and a bunch of bigs that had crazy length and much faster, more endurance than you expected from from from the tall So I would love to see that on the men's side too. So I thought Unrivaled had a bunch of ideas that are going to get stolen by other leagues.
Let's take the juju watcand let's put in the vacuum so it doesn't exist. So I just want to talk about Yukon for a second, because I think Paigebecker stays everybody wants to here win a championship. We love to see people that hang around and stay with it and then for that to finally pay off. And South Carolina and Yukon are probably the two teams now it's gonna you know, it's but I think now like my interest, I was very much at Juju Watkin's guy. I got a bunch of signs. Did you watch and stuff? If I'm being honest with you, yes, very selfically yes, But now it's like I'm I'm I'm rooting for Yukon and it's weird for a dynasty I have no relationship with because I love to see somebody stick around and then see that come to ferration. So talk about that.
Yeah, you know.
I had Gino Oriama on my show Good Game with Sarah Spain and we talked about how it's kind of unfair, but it's true that if Paige Becker's and ends up graduating they don't win this year, she will be the best player Yukon's had that never got a ring, and that's been injuries, that's been quality of play, that's been parody across the women's game, completely shifting in the last couple of years. It used to be all about Yukon and now there are any number of teams. You didn't even mention UCLA. They have a really good shot to win it. I don't think anyone has a good answer for Lauren Betts. So there's a handful of teams that you could see winning it, and I would love to see Yukon win too. I just think Paige Beckers has fought through so much as an athlete. She is an incredible ambassador for the game for speaking up for not just herself but other players that are not as often talked about, and watching her an asy fund be on the court at the same time healthy. And they have absolutely dusted everyone in their path. If we were reseeding this starting with the Elite eight, I think you'd be hard pressed to put a team above Yukon.
Maybe South Carolina.
They have also absolutely obliterated anything in its path in their path, but yeah, Yukon and Paige Beckers now sort of takes the stage as probably the name everybody knows and the team people will be rooting for now that you jose.
Out, Texas is one seed. I hate Texas. How good is Texas?
Wait?
Wait, wait, wait wait wait?
You hate this team or just anything from.
Texas, any Texas University of Texas team period, Everett in the history of the world. I hate them all, not individual. I lived in Austin, my favorite city. I live there for thirteen years and I have friends at coach as Fun a coach on stabs and have played there, and I love them individually. I hate Texas, so I hope they lose everything. But they are really good. But are as far as the one seeds to go? Are they comparable to South Carolina UCLA?
I think in some this is a tough one. Sometimes I feel like they're being slept on.
Madison Booker is insane twenty plus points in each of the first couple games. Vick Shaeffer a very very respected and very veteran coach who has led this team to some pretty big wins, and they took care of business in the first two rounds, zero challenges from William and Mary in Illinois. I just think that they don't have the sizzle of some of the other ones and so they can get slept on. I think they will be fine with Tennessee. Tennessee is a tough one though, and that they can lose any game, and they lose some games you're kind of confused by. But they can also beat some really good teams. So I think Texas is fine in the Elite eight. I think when you get down to the final four, you're going to have You're going to have Texas probably as the number one seed that I think will will be easy to easier to knock off than the others.
Yeah, I like to hear that, really rooting for that to happen. You mentioned Gino earlier, and it's been talked about a few times, but Gino, I won't say, a hater, but did not probably have the belief that Caitlyn Clark could perform as quickly as she did last year. What would Gino say if you asked them about it today.
Yeah, I don't think anyone Frankly was, well, that's not true.
I'm not going to name any names.
There was, like, there were a couple haters, but for the most part, I think it was people being honest and a lot of folks not in the women's game expected a lot more kid gloves. Didn't understand that this is a professional league. WNBA is going to be just like any other league where they're going to say, welcome to the show, rook, we're going to show you how it's done. And Caitlin her turnovers, her sloppiness with the ball early on was what a lot of people expected. You're playing bigger faster, stronger, more talented players at every single passeition on every other team, and then she found her groove and it was so fun to watch.
I think Gina would probably I don't know.
I don't want to speak for him, but I think a lot of the folks were honest, and Dana Tarassi was a perfect example. Like when she was playing against Caitlyn, she had nothing but great things to say about her, but she was accurate in what she said, which is the beginning's going to be a little tough for and it was.
It was what a lot of folks expected.
I'm fascinated to see what the Indiana Fever look like this season. They have added some pieces and they are going to be a problem, and we've already seen I think forty one of their forty four games are going to be on national television. Most of their opponents are looking to upgrade venues so that they're playing, for instance, the Chicago's guy in the United Center where the Chicago Bulls play. A lot of teams are looking to NBA stadiums and arenas to try to get enough fans in because everybody wants to get that ticket. So year two of the WNBA with Kaitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Same thing with that, it's going to be a blast.
I'm not saying this because we're talking women's sports with you specifically, but Caitlin Clark is my favorite American astle late period. I love that all sports, and so I was always an advocate early on of she just finished playing college basketball and immedia, it's not the same as the men where they finished their season. They they they go to camps, they work out for teams, they have they rest they have there, It's okay, that's over. You're immediately on. And I think that was probably a significant reason that she was a bit slower, that's where to say slower developing, a bit slower developing in her terms as she.
Was, and also just getting to know your teammates, like one of Caitlyn's best skills is her playmaking and her passing, And if you're not in a rhythm yet with teammates, because to your point, you literally just played in the National Championship, then got drafted, then you're suddenly having to play games with a whole new team in a whole new league. You just don't have the timing down yet, and what we saw, not only from her teammates, was that they started to figure out her style of play. She started to feed them where they wanted the ball. And now you're going to have this influx of even better talent on that team to work with for her, and it's going to be awesome. It's going to be so much fun.
I can't wait as well. And you mentioned the pieces, but also, like you get to bring a friend to your team, which is what happened with Caitlyn Clark. If you get to bring like a good friend to play with you who's also really good, like, that's pretty exciting.
And a brand new coach.
And I'll tell you what, Stephanie White is a very talented coach who did great things with that Yukon team or sorry, with that Connecticut team.
And you know, when we saw that they.
Were parting ways quote unquote parting ways mutually, we knew she was headed to Indiana and we knew she wanted to go get a chance to coach Caitlin on that team, so that that's going to be a blast.
I'm not a poser. I have WNBA ticket game I call it's not Sunday ticket. What's it called? Path, Yes, wnba la pass and so I'm not opposed on many other things I am for sure, but for this, I definite I am not a poser. And yeah, I'm super excited. And you know, we know that a lot of the Pacers execs because the Pacers and that's the same owners, and so yeah, it's gonna be awesome to see them rested because you also, I could do this for an hour, but just looking, they had two first round picks and Row and the South Carolina grew up South Carolina in the center. Yeah, they were terrible, but she was the only good player on the team the year before Leah Boston.
Yeah, I mean, when you're a team that gets back to back number one overall picks, that says something about your record, right, I think that tells you what you need to know about what was happening with the fever the last couple of years before they had one of the greatest players of all time, Tamiky Ketchings, and they had a really good stretch when she was there. Unfortunately, after she retired, it's been pretty ugly for them. But now they resigned Kelsey Mitchell. Like you said, Eliah Boston, Sophie Cunningham coming from the Mercury. It's a fiery, feisty player. That'll be interesting. Obviously, Brandon Turner, Lexi Hall just I think improved her skill set and unrivaled and is going to bring more in her bag. And then you added Dowana Bonner and Sidney Colson. Sidney Colson an incredible just attitude player, someone who's won titles with the Aces and comes in as a veteran.
It's going to bring just great vibes.
And then do Wanna Bonner one of the greatest scores of all time in the WNBA. She's one of those players that when you're watching her, she is so tall and so skinny that you're like, how is she not getting broken on every plan? And said she's out there, you know, averaging sixteen plus a game and just dominating.
I have three final questions for either, completely independent of anything we've talked about, and number one is that you played lacrosse at Cornell.
No heptathlon.
What wait, that's even better.
Someone got your bad info?
Well yeah, well no, that's even better. Yeah, I blame Kevin. We can show Kevin on his show because I didn't know that I was surprised by that, which is why I was asking the people responsible. He's responsible. So I was shocked by that, But now I'm even more shocked that you did that. So what how many.
Is that heptathlon? Is?
It's seven long jump high jump hurdles eight hundred?
Shopping didn't count that high?
I thought I was one.
You stopped at six.
Wait, so which were you best at? What did you thrive at? And then what was your worst? Uh that you had to like?
Yeah, take javelin.
Javelin and javelin long jumping hurdles were my best. And eight hundred it's the last event. You're you're tired, you're sore, and you got to basically sprint half a mile. Not great for me, is it.
I've done a couple of trathlons, and that's not that's only three, that's not seven because seven, well they don't give.
Any looks seven swimming and biking in there with part in mind.
But sure, yeap, But but when what they put the swimming first because they don't want you to die honestly because it was a drown. Yeah, when you and they have tathlon and because I have no knowledge of this, do they put them in an order based on what you just said, because of things that could possibly go wrong if you're more exhausted at one of.
Them, I would say, yeah, safety for sure. And also an eight hundred is an empty the tank event, Like you couldn't run an eight hundred knowing you have to save your legs for long jumper hurdles or something, so they put that last. So it's like after this you just get to lie down. If you ever watch like it's one of my favorite things when I try to explain to people, like the camaraderie of people and have tathline because you're moving event to event together over and over all day for two days, so you just like know each other well, so it's like you bond with your opponent's a lot. But also at the end of the eight hundred, they are all flat on their backs on the track dead, just like that was it. That was all I had. I gave it all. I'm not moving for a couple of days, and you could just tell that that's that's it.
Side question I'm going to ask, actually ask a question you want to bark. I say, Kevin, why did you think she played lacrosse? Like where did that come from you're my I don't.
I don't see the light.
You've embarrassing me in front of my friend.
Yeah, because I was.
I was shot by that, which is why I was bringing it up.
I've embarrassed myself in front of your friend. Yeah, I blame the internet.
That's where would it say I played lacrosse on the internet?
That's wild? Yeah.
The internet also says my husband is a billionaire, which you know, there are things we wish for.
True on the internet.
Interesting. Yeah, he'll be nice, he'll be whipped after a Bulls fan. Yeah, Josh Getty, I thoughts, Yeah, well I meant you made a funny noise. He's played well but weird. But okay, go ahead.
Yeah, but I mean there's some stuff with Josh.
Getty that we're all Yes, That's why I asked the question.
Yeah, I'm more interested in talking about Kobe White. How exciting is like, you know, listen, let me tell you, Let me take you inside the world of a Bulls fan in Chicago. Right now.
They messed up.
The local sports network so bad that in order to watch the games, you have to put a satellite dish on your house.
What year is it?
You can't pay you can't subscribe. Like nobody in Chicago, very few people are even watching the games because they so royally screwed us over with the new network that it's like it's it's it's literally impossible for some people to get the games unless they go to the United Center and watch them in person.
Yeah, that sucks, especially so disappointing like Chicago and no offense like Salt Lake City. But I would think, okay, right when.
I used to see that in other markets, I'd be like, wow, that's so backwards. I feel so bad for them. They're so behind the times.
And I'm like, here and here's the thing.
So back in the day, the owner of the Blackhawks, so this is the same thing for the Blackhawks, Like they're on that same network, almost no one can watch them. Back in the day, the owner of the black Hawks thought it would encourage more people to come in person if you black them out in the local markets so that they'd have to come watch. And instead just no one cared and no one paid attention to them. And when when he passed away, the sun took over and was like, we got to get us back on TV. That's when they started winning all the titles, and it was like, clearly, we would never do that again, and yet here.
We are right rest in peace around the horn.
Yeah, some exciting news that I can't quite share yet, so I'll just give you a tease that there are going to be some things that happen over the end of the show's run that I think people will be excited about.
I'm so sad it's going away.
I just think it's so special, not just for all of us on it that really felt like it was like a family and Tony really was our little TV dad. But I think also just it was very unique in presentation, in style, in different perspectives and hearing from different cities. It's just everything so debatey now, and it was a lot more nuanced and I thought really fun, especially the Halloween shows.
I'm a massive lifelong Cubs fan. How you feel about counsel Jurys still out.
I think when you have as much success as he had before arriving, you have to assume that there's still a lot good stuff to come. I'm just consistently disappointed with how the Cubs of late have acted like a small market team. I don't expect everyone to be the Dodgers and spend, spend, spend, But I.
Just there's not enough pieces.
I'm excited about Tucker obviously, Chota is really exciting. I look forward to another year hopefully justin Steel dominating.
I just don't think there's enough.
Like you look at them against the teams that have these stacked rosters, and I don't think they've done enough.
And to me, that's a choice.
That's a team that knows they're going to make a ton of money because everybody wants to come to Wrigley every year and buy the gear and everything. But you know, time to get back in the business of contending.
I tell my friends, because I've been a loser in my whole life. With my two teams, which is Arkansas and the Cup. We had twenty sixteen and that was amazing. I went to work too. I went to Game two. We lost to the Indians, but we ended up still winning. It was great.
I went to All seven. It was so you didn't have to flex.
You have to flex. I was in the middle of my story. You didn't have to flex on me right there. But that's that's all good. And I tell I was talking to friend the other day about it. And we're talking baseball, and because he's hit, one of his best friends is the gym for the Dodgers, and I was like, man, you guys have money. And he asked me, what does it feel like sucking? I said, you know what, I think I die And I'm okay because there were like two generations ahead of us that never got to see it. Never suck, like yeah, parents and grandparents, unless unless you were alive, and oh wait, you never got to see it. So even though I want to win and I expect to be competitive and i'd like to see us spend money, it right, we.
Could still have joy because of twenty sixteen. For the kids out there, he means nineteen oh eight, not two thousand and eight. You unless you were alive at nineteen o eight, because it was over a century ago. There are two o eights he could be referred to. I completely agree. Remember talking to Boston Vans and they were kind of telling me the only thing that sucks is once you break the streak and you win, you're just every season's a disappointment and you're mad because now you expect to win every year. And I was like, no, that's a choice, Like you could choose to come off the mountain of happiness about the wind and start complaining every year, I'm just going to stay on top of the mountain. And so yes, of course I want them to spend, I want them to contend, I want them to be good. But I have not lost the joy and the gratitude of being alive for twenty sixteen because to your point during that run, I mean, I'm getting goosebumps literally just talking about the number of people that took radios to a gravestone to listen with someone that they lost, that didn't make it long enough. The chalk writing on the side of Wrigley Field on the bricks, like shouting out people that couldn't.
Be there and weren't alive for it.
I don't know, there's something particularly romantic about baseball, and particularly about this just the Cub's history that you'll never get me to not get kind of teary eyed about the fact that we got to be alive.
And see that my final question, and we mentioned before you came on just again, you guys listen to a good game with Sarah Spain wherever you get your podcast. But we're literally on a podcast, So that's like going not right here.
If you're getting your podcasts here, you can't get it here, but anywhere else.
Yeah, she's very funny. Obviously she knows sports. And you're doing a thing at the Women's Final four with Sue Bird, who I love AND's got a chance to know. I don't know Diana Trossi at all, but but Sue's awesome. What are you guys doing there?
We're doing a live show for Capital One, just going to talk about their relationship, Diana retiring.
I have another tease.
I can't give too many details, but if you're a fan of John Oliver's show and the way he sort of takes his show from on the air to into the world, you know, he'll like do a story about a mascot and then buy that mascot, or he'll do a story and then you know, end up having the John Oliver Kuala Chlamydia Unit in Australia as a results of the story. Like he just takes the show and brings it out, breaks the fourth wall. I have a little moment with Dina Tarassi in honor of her retirement that we'll be announced during that show and then that's gonna air. I think the Monday after the Final four. But anybody in Tampa can come watch that show in person. It's gonna be a blast.
And Okay, and the final question is when you walked off the field in your little cross career, like, what was your what was your final thought as you left the field.
I think I think it was like, wow, I should have learned the rules. Yeah, and I don't know what position I am and why am I dressed for high jump?
Exactly? Sarah, you're the best. You guys follow It's in the notes, but on Instagram Sarah's Bane twenty three, twenty three. Uh, just to go look at the notes. We have it all there. Appreciate you if you do an awesome job.
You guys saw su Yeah, she was on on the stage.

I saw you at the super Bowl. You just don't remember because you were in the zone. You were getting ready for me, Bobby. But we said hello.
Yes, you guys said hello, and you didn't say anything. You don't remember said hello to you.
Okay.
I think you were like, who was this lady?
I'm no, that's not true.
Me get out of your way.
That would not be true. That would not be true in a million years, because I told I actually the first time we met, went to you and was like, hey, I'm a massive fan, and here's when I used to know.
We had a blast, and we had a blast in France. And maybe you didn't recognize me. Maybe I was off my game, maybe I looked weird. I don't know. Maybe I.
Lacross Jersey. That's that's what it is. Sarah, thank you and hopefully we'll talk to you soon.

So we've had an attorney and we're going to set up an escrow for the pickleball challenge. It should be in Cleveland. I don't feel comfortable planing this guy's home court. We have to find a different court in Cleveland. But I've not spoken to the guy. So I'm going to give you his Twitter.
Yeah, okay, Yeah, don't worry. I'm on Twitter. There's no TikTok, TikTok Facebook.
Okay, I thought I call it TikTok. Why are you on Twitter but not TikTok when TikTok is so much better?
Because Twitter is hilarious.
Twitter is the worst now and for.
Sports like it's the best place still to get I know a lot of it is fake news, but it's still great spot to get news quick. I think TikTok's better. See I I can't really compare her.
That's our point. Well, then get on it, man, I use TikTok for so much news. If you're not algorithm it, you can just search and do recent and you can see all news for everything. Not my point, I digree. If you go to my Twitter page, I can find the guy's name. I need you to message him and say, hey, this is Kevin. I'm with Bobby Bones. We have an attorney that is going to set up an escrow. Just wondering if we want to start moving forward on setting up a pickleball showdown for the one thousand dollars each challenge that type thing. So can you do that reaching out.
Yeah, he's under your account.
Yeah when you say stuff like that, I have a feeling you're.
Not, like, is he under a post or that that you had on the Yeah, I.
Can just send it to you, Okay, but I'm gonna have you be that guy.
Yeah, I'm not gonna have a blue check.
That's the liaison.
I do not have a blue check.
Check. You don't have to now pay?
But do they don't? They have to follow you to see the message?
Depends. He's not a normal dude. I did read because he commented on something. He's like, yeah, I haven't turned in for a iron Man recently. This guy's a four year Division one athlete, a wrestler, troll iron man and like, I want to go playing pickle ball. I'm representing. I'm representing the little man. Every This is great representing the little man and now I'm gonna.
Go do it.
I can't wait to see this guy.
How is this not going to be on Netflix? I'm just confused, Like, this is.
Well, we haven't gotten to actually agree to it yet.
It's true, so I stream it?

Okay, so it's from it's from a specific tree, and then thinking what do they killed the tree to make a pin? They did not. Half of the tree fell due to trunk rot after being hit by lightning. The tree was further damaged in July twenty sixteen due to strong winds. The remaining portions of the tree were cut down April nine, twenty seventeen, by the property owner. This tree has been described as among the most iconic trees in film history. The remains of the tree have been turned into pop culture merchandise such as pins, knives, and hammers. Any idea, what tree? This is from? The Lionking tree? Now that wasn't real, but it was inspired by like a real tree. This is a real tree. This tree was located on private property at a place called Malabar Farm. Did say the state, Yeah, Richland County, Ohio. But that doesn't mean that doesn't mean it's going to lead you to where it is in Ohio. What could a tree be in Ohio? Movie related? Any guesses, guys, could be Forrest Gump. It's a good guess. It's not it, but because Jenny, you know, talking about a dangle, but equal m in the spectrum of cinema. Okay, what do you think, Mike, I'm trying to think of a famous movie tree. This tree played a central role in the film's plot. It was one of the most popular tourist sites connected to it. The tree was las one hundred feet tall and approximately one hundred eighty to two hundred years old. It was featured in the motion picture The movie came out in the nineties. Shawshank, YESO nice. The Shawshank Redemption Tree was the white oak located in your you know the tree where.
