App all right, So we continue the conversation here in the waiting game for the NBA Finals, because the NBA Finals tip off tomorrow night, and apparently the NBA Finals and the NBA itself couldn't wait. They couldn't wait any longer. They had to get some news out there, and that news was Tom Thibodeau. He gone as the head coach of the New York Knicks. That is a wrap for his time as a New York Knicks coach, even though despite the fact the New York Knicks did something they hadn't done in twenty five years, and he was the head coach in charge of the team as they did it. Tom Thibodeaux finds himself on the outside looking in with the Knicks now moving on and looking for a brand new head coach there to take over the reins at Madison Square Garden.
You know, Brunson was very very offended when he was asked about if Tibodeaux, what's the right guy for the job?

Oh yeah, yeah's here there is a little Jalen Brunson, uh talking about coach Tibbs following their loss.
You talked about the confidence. Obviously, I feel like nobody takes more criticism than Tom and this team obviously has turned around during his tenure. Do you kind of feel that going forward he's the same guy? Ift you guys the rest of the way that next level this is?
Is that a real question right now? You just asked me if I believe that if he's the right guy. Yes, thanks guys.
Fun probably should ask James dole on that maybe he would have been the better guy to asked about that question. Look, I think it's a clown show. I think it's disguised as an Eastern Conference Finals team. But I think if you just looked hard enough, Madison's Square Gardens not actually an arena. I think it's a circus tent. I think he got people juggling bowling pins. I think there's tigers flying through hula hoops with flames coming off the sides of them. I think the entire thing is a circus. And this whole idea that the Knicks should be taken seriously as a legitimate franchise when you see the behavior of their fan base after just getting past the second round, this is par for the course. I mean it would it would like we could do an entire show on just the fan base and their behavior and all that being said. But I feel like this was already in the works, and Tom Thibodeau, barring an NBA Finals appearance, was probably going to lose his job because there's no other explanation for why exactly he would you would move on from the guy other than you had this in your mind and he needed to get to an NBA Finals or else he was going to get clipped.
You know, there's already people throwing their hat into the ring to become the new head coach of the New York Knickerbockers. Who's that Let me read it for you. I want every bit of the smoke in New York, NYC. I'm one hundred ready to head coach the great New York Knicks. Queen's Brad dominated my high school era three championships at the Rucker and never lost one at the Rucker three championships at the real Gershwin when there was no security. Lots more on the NYC front had a Nick practice shirt and short on at nineteen ninety nine Draft. NBA accolades speak for themselves. I basically locked up tons of Hall of famers. Sorry, but light Work Meta is ready for the city world people. Let's look, I mean, why not listen? And I'm not saying this to be you know kind of yeah I am. I am saying it to be funny. Thibodeaux is not. That was the firing was in my estimation. That's a bad move. It's a bad move. Your your one series away from from playing in the NBA finals. They have been, they have been competitive and seemingly very close to taking that next step. So if you feel like, ah, we've done pretty good with you, you have. You have done well for us, but we just don't feel like you could get us over the hump. I feel like that really only comes if the players have lost faith and belief in you. You know what this firing does, Jonas, makes players lose faith and trust in what's going on with the New York Knicks. So now you run the potential of by firing Thibodeaux as the head coach, knowing how those players feel about them, knowing the success that they've been able to have, and it's been sustainable success since he's been there, you now disrupt the culture. It's the funniest thing. I look at our social I look at the social media. I read social media. People are so gullible. And I hate to do it. I hate, I hate to say it, but people really are very very gullible. And and I say that to say when when when I posted about the Brian Schottenheimer and how he handled things, and and that possibly him doing what he did with the lockers could possibly create discord and could create dissension, and and and maybe you know, start start a bad culture. Start start off with bringing your culture in, and it could create a toxic culture. It's possible people were losing their ass, especially if they were Dallas fans, right, So I'll say the same thing could possibly exist here. I don't know for certain how how New York Knicks fans will react to the firing, but I would also I would urge, and I would caution that when you're looking at a culture being built, it takes time when that culture, it takes time to be built, and it takes hold to the point of where you had one of the premiere you know, strong point guards in Jalen Brunson. You have you bring in a guy that you feel as though can can really maybe be the difference maker if he if he would just play a little bit more physically, you know, physically driven versus just being a set shooter. Well, Anthony Towns and hey, I mean listen, a lot of people have been piling on him. He's a fine ball player. In fact, he was fine enough for them to knock out the defending champions, right they knocked out the Celtics, They get to the game the series prior to the finals, and and a lot of it had to do with the way Carl Anthony Towns played. So it's it's it's strange that people lose their s to go after him when in a series where they lost, when he's been actually a catalyst with Jalen Brunson to be able to get as far as they did, Now, that's what comes with success. But I think when you're one game away from the NBA Finals, you would have to say the coach has you in the right down direction. You're closer to success than you are the failure.
Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
I don't know why this would be the decision that they would make. Is there a coaching candidate other than Metal World Peace album better, a better, a better recipient, a better prospect than than him? Like, what are they? What are they doing from here?
So Mike Malone, his name is out there, the guy who uh coached the Denver Nuggets to a title and was fired this.
And he probably I mean, but he it sounds as though there was some mixed feelings on him in the locker room he went, and by the way they kind of recovered, you know, after they he left, it seemed as though they may have wanted him out. But that was a fine coach. They were winning.
And and so Mike Malone's Name's been thrown out there. I've seen Jay Wright, the Villanova coach, because the Villanova connection out there. I don't know how believable, that is, But you know Mike Malone, that market would be a good time. He does not hold back, especially if he's drinking at a championship parade, if he's been in the elbow a little bit, he will fire off. But you won't have to worry about that because they're not gonna win a title. But I just I don't know why anybody would want any part of a job that is NBA head coach because we laid out during the course of the season, even after Mike Malone was fired. And this goes you know, Adrian, whether it was Mike Budenholzer, Adrian Griffin and Milwaukee, like just you see all of these guys, Frank Vogel, like all these guys get clipped after just winning a title not that long ago. If you're Joe Mizula of the Celtics, you're probably looking around and going uh oh oh, like if that could happen to him, I mean, like, what could happen to me based on what's happened in the postseason. I just I don't know why anybody would want any part of that job. You are old. Ultimately, as Chris Carter said it best, the fall guy when something goes wrong and it's all about the superstars, and if you have one issue with the superstar or you get an owner who feels like, well, we underperformed, even though some would say you probably overperformed based on the fact you haven't done it in a quarter century like they did. You're on your ass and you're looking for a new gig because they decide, well, you know, we'll go in a different direction and see if somebody else can get us over the hump. Okay, good luck with that, good good luck.

You know, it's great about Thibodeaux getting fired. They just gave him an extension last summer. So he just got an extension. He then overachieves the following year after just getting an extension, and they fire him. Yeah all right, man, yeah, okay.
You know, when I talked to everybody, I don't want to put people out there, but you know, one of my close friends was a head coach and I never thought i'd have a super super close friend, like a best friend, become a head coach, and he did. And when I heard of the perks and all the things that are connected to being a head coach, it's like, you have to deal with, Yeah, you have to deal with you have to deal with something you don't like to deal with as a competitor, which is you you didn't win enough to keep your job, and you lost enough to lose your job. But dang the compensation. When he told me what he was getting compensated for as long as he just you know, laid back and didn't do anything, it's crazy. It's crazy. You could get at It's like a heist. That's why you coach, and that's probably why it's so hard. It's so hard to get it. And if you do have longevity, then the perks that go along with that crazy, The benefits that are connected to being a head coach, a long tenured head coach, crazy, it's crazy. When he started breaking it down for me, I said, I looked in the mirror. Later on that evening. I didn't do it in front of him because I didn't want to embarrass myself, like I didn't want to sit there and be like, are you being serious? I looked at my mirror when I was brushing my teeth. Later on, I was like, damn, I should have just kept going, Like I should have just kept I broke off. You know. He got me into coaching shots out, shots out. You know. I went along on Beach Poly. We did well. It led to him going to ASU. I went and coached a private in here in La in Pasadena. We were successful. I should have just kept going. In my mind, I should have because because once he became a head coach.
Radio radio is too much fun. You have you can play grab ass so much more on the radio.
Radio is fun, man, Radio is fun. But god dang, Like, can can radio give us a fraction? Can they give us a ferraction of what these coaches are making? God dang, I mean listen, I mean, there's less of us than it is to them. Can we get a fraction? I'd like to talk about all them coaches.
I'd like to think that you are You've got a little bit of that radio scumbag in you like the rest of us. And it was just too enticing, just too enticing. You know, there's nothing wrong with being a radio guy, until you see the paychecks, as some of these coaches are goot for just not coaching anymore yours look at mine.
I'm like, wait, I'm not even the point part of it. Eight point nine point. I'm not even the number after the decimal point. Hey man, that's all good man, I be you don't have to put in the type of time that they do either. I mean, that's a lot of time. It's a lot of things that you have to manage. And that's why I got out of coaching, And that's something to be said about all of this too. Imagine you're paying someone to come in and have to deal with being a coach in the New York market, especially for one of the more popular teams. That's tough, man. You got to pay them to be able to be just as good of a facilitator in the community and with the businesses and with the people that are in androw that sports community as much as you have to be that person to the team and those That sometimes is the biggest downfall for some of these guys. You know, it's it's it's it's a very very rewarding job when you can be a head coach because of the impact that you can have on young men, older men, and you know even I mean obviously with other sports you could be that to women. But it's also a very unforgiving job in terms of how you're treated, how you're measured, how you're judged. There is no as you mentioned earlier, there is no comfort zone, there is no pocket of peace. It is a very very turbulent and chaotic industry and job, you know, a job to have, So I don't I think they earn their money because it's it's it's not for long. You know, you are destined to get fired, which what coach has never been fired? Has? Has pat Phil? Did Phil Jackson walk away or did he get fired? I think he might have walked away. Did pat Riley walk away or did he get fired?
I think they because what's interesting about it is pat Riley. I was listening to an interview with Mark Kriegel. He was on with Ariel Hawane's My Guy and uh Mark. Mark Kriegel was making the point that he thinks the Knicks franchise took a turn for the worst when they decided to move on from pat Riley, because afterwards, you see what pat Riley did with Miami, and that's one of the more stable organizations. And by stability, I mean, man Eric Spolster hasn't won a title in a long ass time. You don't hear any conversations about that moving off from him because there's stability there, Like it feels like a high functioning operation there, as opposed to some of these other places that are just turn and burn on these guys. I mean, if your coach Tibbs, do you just whatever money you're making from the Knicks, do you just reinvest it in some season tickets. You imagine him court side next year, just take the year off and sit court side and watch the circus.
I mean, or he could just go sit on the couch or at a you know, cigar bar or whatever with Big Oak. You know what I mean. They still they made things right with Big Oak, you know what I mean. So maybe you go hang out with Charles Oakley and you know, watch the Knicks be the nixt.
I mean, now we know why Tracy Morgan was blowing chunks on the court. Now we know.
Because he needs his old spice. Now we know why because he needs my old spice, Lee Lee, You said pat Riley retired via Fax.
Yeah, well from he resigned from the Knicks via Fax, Yeah, via Fax.

I don't know if this is something to be concerned with, but it's at least something to look at. The Houston Texans, who have an important season coming up. Based on just the decision making they made in the offseason, the Texans have maybe a little something going on with CJ. Stroud. Apparently he's got some general soreness and he has not been throwing the football in front of the media.
Well, I don't know, just that sounds like a common thing that's developed these days.
Imagine that. Yeah, by the way, Contextans, could you do as as solid so we don't have to talk about the Stanley Cup Final? Could you trade c J. Stroud just to give us some content? Could somebody do something reckless in the NFL so we got something to would be reckless?
But c J.
Stroud has not been throwing the football. He's got some general soreness. Uh, it's being.
Called call Is it called general? No new contract? He's because I tried that one yesterday and it didn't seem the work. Prisco felt like he agreed with you. It was more of a trade deal for a buddy in Atlanta.
I mean, let's be honest, Pete. Prisco was on the warpath yesterday. He was he was, he was dropping bomb. He started with Brady Quinn.
H he really did. He tried to pull me in. I'm not going there.
He tried to pull us in.

I just do it the in law. I just did what the in laws do, blah blah, and then you just move right along. I can't do that with you, Pete Demiico Ryans, the coach of the Houston Texans. He spoke about the resting CJ. Stroud yesterday in Houston.
He has general soreness and we're just taking extra pcasting with him. When he's ready to go, he'll be ready to go. But I said that's it for him, like his general soreness, and we're taking extra precaution with him. We're not gonna rush him into anything. He'll be fine when at the moment is for him to be ready to go, he'll be.

Okay, I mean, listen, take take his word for it that that's that's all good. But maybe it's something to monitor considering how last season went. C J. Stroud took a beating. He was annihilated in that playoff game by the Chiefs. I mean they were teeing off on him at some point, and that was probably why people I.
Think, come on, man, we're in June.

If he's banged up, brof, he's banged up from season right now, that's bad.
Oh Like that's a bad Yeah. But wouldn't it bad? I mean, wouldn't he think he'd be, you know, slinging the ball around a little bit, I mean general soreness in June.
I think he is slinging the ball around. I just don't think he's slinging it around with them. Again, if if my research shows he doesn't have a new contract, he doesn't have it. Did they do an extension forum or anything like that.
He's only entering his third year, so I think this, But this is the year.
This is the year you want to try to start doing contract negotiations right.
Third year, after this year, post this year.
YEA, all right, well then if that, if that's not it, if it's not an extension or anything like that, then I don't know. Maybe it is general soreness. Maybe that is the truth of the matter. I felt like he's going, it's a four year deal. Don't you generally have five year deals.
Well, yeah, he's got the fifth year option because he was taken in the first round, so they've got that opportunity ahead of them. But it's after the third year that.
You would be like that you can do it. Okay, Well, all i'll say is all i'll say is you could say anything you'd like to say at this point in time in the year. It doesn't matter because you're not required to have to disclose what's going on clearly. So if you want to say there's general soreness and we're just taking it light with him, then that's that's what it is. He didn't give any more details. He didn't say when it happened, you know, how it may have happened. You know, Oh he was throwing you know, during during this time and had soreness or he was do we even know? Is it is throwing arm? What did they say? What he didn't say?
What it was general soreness. It's the old NHL move, you know. You know, I'm a upper body lower body injury, and then you come to find out, you know, the guy was severed at the waist, you know.
But it all matters, man, Like what I'm dealing with right now, if he had general swortness like this and his big toe, hey bruh, that makes a difference. And his ankle makes a difference. If it's his shn, his knee, his achilles tended, his hamstring, his quadricep, his it band, whatever you want, his lower back, his vertebrate, you know what I mean, Like if he has any type of general soreness anywhere from playing the game of football, which most football players do, maybe almost all of them do have things that they're dealing with physically that they have to maintain and maintenance. So you know that it's a general it's a very generic in general comment and statement. If that's what it's going to be, I guess that's just making sure you you cover off on not if this were to become a bigger injury that you did log it, you did file it, you did address it, and and you're moving on from it. But if you're going to be so general about it, why even why even talk about it? Uh?
I think because people had noted that we're covering practice there, that it was well, you know, just uh, it hasn't been throwing at all in front of the media. Now you mentioned something that I think is important. Uh, you know a little bit of a to do list for people out there. The IT band. Yeah, please work out your IT band.
So go split it man, Go get that bad Boys split. Yeah.

It's that it goes from your hip all the way down to the side of your knee. You gotta you gotta work that IT ban. I didn't even know what the IT band was. And then lo and behold, I'm playing pickup basketball and my kneecap literally ran from my body because my band was so tight that it just went. And that was that. But as far as the Texans go, I'm trying to figure out and this year is going to tell us everything whether or not they are c J. Stroud as a rookie or CJ Stroud last year because there was a big difference. That was not the same result. Even though they went to the playoffs and they beat the Chargers and they went to the second round and they were competitive, that was not the same c J. Stroud and team that we got in year one of him in the NFL. And I don't know if there's such thing as a sophomore slump or whatever title they want to put to it, but there was a lot of turnover. I mean, the OC got fired. That was an OC that people were looking at. He was interviewing for head coaching jobs and the year before because of how good c J. Stroud was as a rookie, and Brady has pointed this out, you know, maybe the best rookie season in the history of the league. And he's fired a year later, you decide to move on from the offensive line coach because he was sacked and pressured second most in the NFL, in the entire league. So I just I wonder is he year one CJ. Stroud or is he year two? And maybe this is just sort of the precaution. We don't want him to deal with anything going into the season. We're looking for full health because he was playing banged up last year. Because again he did take a beating.
It wasn't as impressive, but nonetheless still impressive. And they hit double digit wins and they won their division. They still look like a competitive team, just didn't look as dangerous, right, they looked dangerous c J. Stroud's rookie year like there was something there, there was some magic there. CJ. Stroud's rookie year. This past year, it was almost like the Steelers, It's like they're getting to that winning record, but it's it was quiet, and it was it was like wow, like they're really leading their their division. Like wow, okay, oh they won their division. I forgot all about that's crazy. You know that's crazy. But you knew that it was a two horse race.
You guys are still there. It really was.
Kind of a one horse race, right, Like could you imagine running like the the Preakness or the Kentucky Derby and and literally you knew that you were the one horse. Yeah, like, I'm the one horse that's going to run this race, and there's other horses in the race, but I just know that they're just not They're not going to run at the level I run. And that was kind of Yeah, that was kind of the year that they had. You know, the Colts they were you know, they were kind of you know, mid, they were mid. You know, the Jags were some trash.
Yeah.
The Titans were some trash obviously, and we'll talk about them pretty soon here, but you know, trash, trash division a f C South which trash. But you know what, the Texans still did what they needed to do. It just wasn't and as to me, it wasn't as impressive as you as you said, as it was his his you know, c J. Stroud's rookie year.
Yeah, so that is the uh, that's the update there. We we wait to see whether or not c J. Stroud is going to be slinging the ball at some point, whether or not the media can see it. You mentioned the Tennessee Titans. Calvin Ridley did say that, you know, uh, cam Ward's got this effort mentality which you kind of need as a quarterback.
And what type of mentality? What's it mean? Yeah, you know, like ate it like like capture the voice and and.
It's like a it's like a curse word. I'll mute my mic and say it.
Hold on one second, okay, okay, yeah, rams with bucket, Yes, Okay, Yeah, so.
He's got he's got that mentality, and that's I'm listen, that's all great and all, and he's going to go through some rookie growing pains and and that's that's fun and everything. And then I look at Brian Callahan's situation, the head coach there, and I go all of a sudden, you know, the people that hired him are not there. You've got a brand new rookie quarterback, and I'm just wondering if this is going to play out like we've seen so many times in the NFL, where you draft a quarterback high. Maybe maybe not. The coach is kept around, but from all accounts, it feels like maybe the clock is ticking on Brian Callahan. And next thing you know, that rookie quarterback is going into year two with a brand new head coach and is already dealing with turnover. We've seen it with Caleb Williams, We've seen it with a bunch of other situations, and I can't help but wonder if the effit mentality and the growing pains there in Tennessee are going to end him ultimately costing Brian Callahan his job. Because there's a new regime there, They've probably already got eyes on what the future could look like. If you if you're Tennessee and you achieved more than you did last year with a rookie quarterback, say you double your win total and you are a three win team a year ago. If you're six and eleven, it stands to reason Brian Callahan loses his job and the way the NFL cycle goes Now cam Ward goes into year two with a different head coach, and you're already off with Jones.
Is Daniel Jones or Anthony Richardson start next year for the Colts?
I think Anthony m I. I'll say Daniel Jones.
You say Daniel Jones. Okay, knocks lock damn Okay. So you got Daniel Jones, you got you got Trevor Lawrence, you got C. J. Stroud, and now you have cam Ward.
Yeah.
If I'm if I'm Tennessee, with what what they have in cam Ward and the potential of what they have with him, I'm feeling pretty confident because, like I said, it's it's been a one horse race. If you if you ask me, it's been it's been a one horse race. And to look at where this team currently is uh I mean they can only go up, they can only go up from from here, or they could potentially stay right where they are. I do believe that cam Ward is the type of talent that could actually make this a better make this a better team moving forward. I mean, I still feel like there's some holes they need to fill on this team. Thereby no means where they need to be in terms of personnel wise to in my estimation be you know, maybe a super Bowl competitive team, but they can be a competitive team in their division. Trevor Lawrence, this is a very, if you ask me, a super pivotal year for Trevor Lawrence. It's a super pivotal year. Is he going to prove what he's worth or is it going to just be you know what, Trevor Lawrence is a pretty good, serviceable franchise quarterback in the league. Same thing for the rest of them, right like, what are you going to see? That means? CJ. Stroud, It's a big year for him just to prove what he needs to prove. And again the Colts, I mean that one's up in the air, but they got a lot to prove at that position too, So it at least opens the door and gives cam Ward the opportunity to actually be able to jump into the conversation with a CJ. Stroud as a rookie. Just works out that way. Not so much in the AFC North. We talk about the other guys from the North that went to Cleveland. They have a different situation. But this group right here, this division, do you have the opportunity to actually climb up that scale and be talked about out favorably. In the AFCs it is two pros and a cup of Joe. In case you missed this, sixteen year old high school sprinter out of California, Clara Adams from North Salina's High School. She won the four hundred meters state final the other day fifty three point twenty four seconds. The problem was in her celebration. She ran over to her father and coached on the side, and he gave her a small fire extinguisher. She decided to run over near the track and spray her feet in celebration as a tribute to former US Olympic sprinter Maurice green Well. CIF officials took offense to that and decided to strip her of her title. She is given an emotional response, so has her father in lieu of the decision.
