Best of 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe

It’s a Football Friday on 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe, and the Thunder continue to roll, but don’t count out a turnaround for the T’Wolves. The College Football Playoff will now seed based off rankings, but do Conference Championships become pointless if they aren’t rewarded a bye in the College Football Playoff? Plus, the Wheel of the Indy 500.

Is the best of two pros and Lamar rating Win and Jonas Knox on radio.

How's everybody feeling here on this football Friday.

That's a wrap. Call it, call it bar Just go ahead and call it now.

Man, I'm not ready to do it yet. But it's bleak and I ain't talking about Memphis bleak. Minnesota bleak.

Well, they always say that, you know, a series doesn't start until a road team wins a game, and uh yeah, so we'll see, we'll see, uh see if Minnesota can respond. I'm just not a fan. I'm not a big fan of you know, the throwing yourself on the ground, the hooking, getting every h I mean, it's the truth, though trolling, It's true.

No, it's the truth. You're still you're trolling though.

He he hooked his way through so fro the ground to thirty eight points last night.

I'm not listen. He's a great player. But if you watch him play and you watch s g A, you can't tell me that he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to a lot of this stuff.

Benefit of comparing him to the film Mannequin is that what you're saying.

You love Mannequin. That's one of your sneaky top five movies of all time.

Definitely not.

I would never say that, but I feel like you're comparing it to Mannequin right now.

So as soon as you look away and you look back, it's just just stiff his hail. Huh. Yeah, I'm talking about the Wait wait, I'm talking about the mannequin.

Yeah, all right, well I'll beat at beach whatever you know, whatever video was sent over yesterday, which, all right.

I'll go ahead and do it. I'll go ahead and do it. Series is over, Yeah, play that.

You go ahead and throw that about this.

We haven't gotten that fixed. That sounds brilliant. It's also racist because he's got because he's got.

A damn so weeny. It's just so weeny. But I just I feel like they're so deep. He's playing out of his mind. It's no one's gonna beat the thunder.

No, they're playing poorly on Minnesota side. I mean you need it. Contributions from from Randall. He's struggling, you know, to shoot. The defense has been smothering for okay. See Chad Holmgren is showing his value as a player. The wind puppet is is winding uh the Minnesota Timberwolves. So you know, all in all, it's still could turn into a good series. I wonder in my mind, did he hold you know, did the coach hold Randall and go bearing them guys out to rest them and say hey, let's let's go back and defend our home court. You know, one game you're one game away from being right back in the series. You're one game away from really being out of it too, but you're one game away from being back in it. So you know, Randall, if you get some type of of of relief or or contribution that is of significance from from Randall, it's a different game. And obviously that's been you know to me in yesterday's game that that was the difference. And again we looked at the game that they were able to have success in the last series, and Rudy Gobert looked like he was the MVP of the National Basketball Association SGA. Well, I told you all, he's not going to have another game like that. I mean, I don't you know, he's he's been respected as a defender even like gets rebounds, but nobody's ever looked at him as being like a rebounder score and threat that way, and you know that snuck up on their their last opponent in the last series. But that's obviously been been addressed by okay See. Okayc's defense is is so much of a problem for Minnesota because they can't they can't find the way they're they're shooting, isn't loosening up the tightness of their defense on the perimeter, and they're not getting behind the ok See defense effectively enough to be able to win it getting into the paint.

Somebody was saying last night, and I got to forget who it was, but they were making the point that well, if you're Minnesota, you just you go back and you try and find some optimism and you say, listen, our shots aren't falling, all right, that's that's gonna eventually come around.

You know.

Shit, it's you know, make miss League and you go through the and I'm hearing it going, are you sure about that? Because Okase closes out everything like if a guy's got a ball, they're on him.

They're on him and in front of him too. That's the thing.

And people have made the point that it's one of the best defensive basketball teams you've seen in years, and it really is. And I just wonder if this is really, to Brady's point, how this series is going to look because you cannot overcome whatever they do defensively, just can't.

Yeah, it's discouraging, I'll tell you that. So good because the shooting woes may very well be because of the defense. It's not because you're having an off shooting night, like they're forcing the off shooting nights. So I don't know.

Good, turn serious, go back and look at the last serious. I'm Scott, Scott Shapiro, I'm sorry. I'm with you and all those folks in Minnesota right now.

All right.

Once, once Cleveland got knocked out, I was like, all right, e Wolves fan. I want to see him do it. I want to see Anthony Edwards do it. I want to see him take that next step. No disrespect SGA. It's just they're so good. They're deep, they're great at like everything. There's not really many and I think what makes it difficult is their depth allows them to play a bunch of different styles. I don't know that Minnesota can really play the way they'll come City Thunder can, especially especially if Minnesota has a bad shooting night, which or if you want to put it that way, or great defense frocusy.

Either way, I don't know that the series will go past five.

I was I was assuming that that Minnesota their length, like with Rudy Gobert, like with you know, nas Reed and and and with Randall, that they would be able to find a rhythm, you know, and and get comfortable with beating them, beating them up down low, you know, creating shots mid mid range game, you know, at the rim game, you know, finishing at the rim. They haven't done it. They haven't been able to do it. And it's interesting because you mentioned the last series, Q think about the freaking brilliance of Jokice being able to average the amount of points that he was averaging, making it a series against the OKC Thunder. I think it really like exposes or or maybe even shows how great a player, you know, Jokic is, because he almost won the series on his shoulders, on his back, and this is clearly a dominant a dominant defensive unit, and they still were only able to kind of, I don't even want to say minimize Jokic in that series, but they were able to find a way to defense them well enough in order to be able to to win the games. And now you're seeing it against you know, inferior players to what Yokig is. And I think I may mention of the fact that like this is like a series where you're like you're taking off the ankle weights and you're taking off the weight that vest to play against the team because you don't have to play against the Jokige in this series. It's probably such a deep breath of relief to just say we can just play and we know that there's a world beater in Anthony Edwards, and we're gonna let we're gonna we're gonna do what we can against him. But knowing that if we really really make it hard for him, which they have, there's no easy easy outs down the court for him. And if we really really press the rest of these guys, press Randall, you know, minimize go Bear, you know, minimize nas read those guys, if we really really play it that way, they're going to struggle to be able to maintain the pace of what we play at. And it's paying off. It's paying dividends for for uh for okay. See, so they're showing that they're clearly the better team. It'll be interesting to see going back to Minnesota. Can they make a series of it again. They're one game away from making it more interesting, but they could be one game away from showing that they're still not where they need to be as a team, and maybe Anthony Edwards isn't all the way there yet as well.

I've got an idea, all right, I've got an idea.

I did some of some theme music though, or something that kind of helped helped bring the idea to life. It's possible. I'm not sure if we've got anything back there in the studio to a studio band or anything out there, anything at this hour, any music at any point in time ever.

I mean, as soon as I see Lorna shift from looking at.

The I'm putting in marching.

Yeah, oh I get it. As soon as I see you shift, then you're you're looking. I know that's at least going to be thirty to forty seconds. No shade, that's no shade, that's just I know it's gonna take the right there, right shoulder.

So look, Minnesot' is got one shot at this thing to go back home. Yeah, this doesn't make any sense to go back home and win a game, okay, And I think they can just look a little bit south, all right. They could look down from Minneapolis and say, hey, Cleveland, can we borrow that snow machine?

All right, snow machine.

We're gonna take the Cavalanche.

We'll call it the t wolve a lanche call it.

But you get that snow machine, okay, and when you go on a flurry of baskets, you let that thing rip. And that is the only chance the Minnesota Timberwolves have is borrowing the cavalanche machine. The Cleveland Cavaliers they got to use once this year to help bring them back in this series.

That's the hope.

I think you're also gonna have to get violent, like this is gonna have to get really really physical. And look, it's gonna cost maybe some guys a couple of pay checks, maybe somebody who get suspended. But I feel like we're on the brink of Minnesota acting out. We saw Anthony Edwards throw a ball at SGA in the first game last night. Jade McDaniels just pushed SGA to the ground late in the game because he was just so frustrated with some of the officiating what was happening. He was also asked about this afterwards. Here was mcdanielsscha was they're just a little frustration boy over how what was kind of.

I just just wanted to found him for I wasn't even mad.

It just half thousand youth.

So they're at the point now they're going to start acting out, and that's what we need. You want to make this a series, you got to turn things extremely physical and whatever that takes, whoever it's gonna cost, you have to because you can't match up anywhere other than the physicality potentially. And if you're fed up with the foul calls and you're fed up with all that, then you just need to go ahead. And if you're gonna get a foul, at least make it a double tack and get kicked out of the game. Just go all the way with it. That's the only way this is going to become a series. I just need to see how they play at home. If they play much better, if they're shooting, because you would assume that they're shooting will be much improved shooting at home. I mean, if they're able to generate more offense and be more formidable on the offensive side of the court. Then it could, in theory, get interesting. I don't I don't.

I think this is a dangerous position for OKAC to be in because they're in such a strategically sound position right now and you don't want to lose that momentum, and you certainly don't want to give the Timberwolves any type of real hope that they can climb back into this series. So we're gonna find out. You know, the questions coming into this year's play is is this OKAC team ready to take the next step to show the maturity level of where they're at. SGA ends up getting the league MVP Award. You know that they're they're able to prove out. In the first round, they knock off one of the champs and the Nuggets and one of the best players and he was going basically head to head with to get that MVP award. They send them home, So that was a major hurdle that they cleared. Now you're in in a series against an up and coming superstar that people want to compare to Michael Jordan. Want to make this team like the next ones up. You show Lebron James talking to Edwards saying take that next step, and here they are hitting a brick wall against OKAC. I think this is a great opportunity for them to put their their neck on the or their foot on the proverbial neck of the Timberwolves and show how dominant they are. But this could be one of those dangerous moments for them where maybe that experience does show, or or should I say, the lack of experience could show in the rest of this series. So I'm interested to see which way does that go. Are they able to finish it out or does it become a little bit, as you guys said, a messy. The games made a little dirty, a little messier and plays into the advantage of the Timberwolves at home versus Okay see having a more cleaner type of game and approach to you know, how they they you know, are able to finish out the games.

From the thunderside of it. I do think it would be remiss if we didn't give a little bit of a shout out here to three crucial key components to the OKAC thunder Chat Holmbren, Isaiah Hartenstein, Yep, Alex Caruso off top Brady. That's what I'm talking about right there, up there. They've been very valuable man talking about it.

Did not show in the last series, did not show maybe, but the way they again, the way they come up on you if you don't have and Hartenstein, this, this, this, okay, ye, yeah, Well, I don't think y'all ever win anywhere. I just think that y'all just don't have as many of y'all.

Yeah, we were the c b A.

That's where we were.

We're not hide anymore like the Hills have eyes. Right, we're out.

We're in the G league.

I mean, you know, Haliburton is light skin too, So you know, y'all could debate it. You know, you know, we don't get into this we got even though he's what we know. Stick with what we know. Y'all don't want any borderline type stuff. Huh, not doing it?

Standing stick with sports.

Can't take sports.

No one likes that stupid conversation. That's that's happened.

Ever, can't can't take any chances. I mean, well with Donald Trump's tan, he won't try to. We try to debate it a little bit at times. Some of us are Sometimes some people take the opposite side of what they Trump.

By the way, it is important to point out here on this show Pete Prisco did yeah, so uh yeah, is Pete Prisco the same tint as the Nick's logo?

Yeah, I mean the Donald Trump Pete.

Pete Prisco looks like a tan couch.

He looks his skin looks like that couch, that leather couch that you've got, Risco, You've had for about four or five years now.

It's been beaten up by the sun.

Prisco sits your living.

Room right from the window.

He looks like a home depot cart.

The mosquitoes land on. Pete be like, what the half? What what is that? Damn?

Where's the blood?

I'm not a smell something, but this this, this, this texture doesn't fit with a smelled.

You know, we don't drink coconut oil.

Hey, buddy, so we try to tap into this take off.

Okay, this is it is.

It is important to point out here though, that is a it's a football Friday. It's a damn Friday here in the show.

You know Friday.

It's Friday, right, come on, right day, Friday Friday.

Come on, come on, come on, what are we talking about?

What are we talking about? What are we talking about? What are we talking about? What's going on in football? What's going on? What's going on? Okay for Eddie, Let's do it for Eddie. Come on Friday night is a Friday Football Friday, lock up, sun up, scoring, spig it, you can feel it and.

Come on home.

Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern, three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Something that we were talking about in real time while it was happening, because I felt like we were on an island alone when it came to a lot of people who just wanted to complain about the college football Playoff as opposed to just being like, yeah, listen, it's got its flaws, but can we just enjoy what we got here? Well, apparently there's not going to be anything left to bitch about, right because the twelve team College Football Playoff is going to move to straight seting. They'll have the straight seating model this upcoming year, so no more automatic first round buys for the four highest rated conference champs. That means the top four teams in the Selection Committee's final rankings will get the first round by I'm sure there's going to be no arguments or disagreements about any of that one time comes. But nonetheless, at least we're going to get some straight seating unlike we had last year in the playoff.

There you go.

This is what I find most interesting about this is there is such a contrast between the NFL conversation and their playoffs and college football. So if you look at the conversation we had earlier this week with Pete Prisco about the NFL.

And potentially reseting how they go about.

You know, determining who gets a home playoff game in the in the wildcard round. Remember we talked about, hey, maybe we just get rid of divisions, and then that way you could actually have every single team in each conference play each other, and you'd actually be able to determine, based on the regular season, who is the best record, who should get the buye, who should get home.

Field advantage, and you'd have your pecking order.

But then that kind of throws out the idea of, you know, playing for something outside of just a super Bowl or a conference championship. Once you get in the playoffs, right, you wouldn't be able to play for a division championship in the regular season. The arguments that we have to that is, well, it's a little unfair because if you look at again, the NFC West this year plays the NFC South.

The AFC South.

All right, how many teams, like five teams between those two divisions had twelve losses or something like.

That last year. And granted it's a new year, we'll see what the divisions look like.

But logic or common sense tells us that's gonna be an easier schedule, most likely for San Francisco, for example, I think was the example we were using.

All Right, now, let's look at the college football playoff.

And now instead of giving any weight to a conference championship, right, like, you player eight or nine conference games and you go off in the term in which.

Two teams go to play for it.

Instead of awarding them that, we're now saying, yeah, but even if you when you're conference championship, you still might not be one of the top four teams.

How does that make any sense.

It's like, at some point the games on the field have to matter, and instead we're now lobbying or throwing it out there to the college football Playoff committee allowing them to say, well, this team didn't win their conference championship, but they looked really good to us on you, on the field and on paper, So we're gonna put them as one of the top four seeds and they're gonna get a buy. So there's all sorts of things that I think I have an issue with it, and I know a lot of people are gonna be like, well, hold on a second, you're a Notre Dame guy, Like, how does Notre Dame factor into all this?

And Notre Dame doesn't play for a conference championship.

You're right, we don't, but that also was held against us, so we never could have a buy. And so now that the system works out where now to Notre Dame can't they don't. They're not playing for a conference championship, and they can have that buy now as part of this. So I know that a lot of people's minds they were upset with the way things worked out last year in Boise State getting a buy and being one of those top four seeded teams.

But that's why you play the games, and they earned their right to be in that position.

I think after a year it's a little too soon for me to make such a reaction like this. And I understand the argument that when we look at the Big twelve, you look at the ACC, you don't look at them the same as the Big ten and SEC. But I think there's other issues that we face in college football where we don't play the same amount of conference games during the course of the regular season. We don't force all the power for teams to play more legitimate non conference opponents, like let's get the scheduling right in the regular season to make them more comparable to one another, and then we can after a few years maybe look at the format and want to change it. I don't like any of this, especially after one year of doing it.

Can I ask you as a question, do you think some of this comes down to because last year it was cut and dry, Hey, here's are here are the requirements. If you do this, you get in, these teams, get in, etc. For the most part, I mean, you still had to vote and there were rankings and all that. Do you think part of this is college football looks at it and says, look, the debate is what is part of college five ball? Is so and so number one? Are they number two? Like that's always been a part of college football, always part of the sport. This opens that up more to where now there's no, hey, you're automatically in. We determine who the top four teams are. We're the ones who make the decisions. And now it just opens up further discussion and conversation in discord about who the best teams are and who's deserving of it, as opposed to last year was like, Hey, so and so, when's the Mountain West they're in, here's what we know moving. It just feels like this opens up the discussion for debate, which I don't think they hate from a college football standpoint.

I don't think that's the progative, Like, I don't agree with that at all. I think they're trying to get what they feel like is the top twelve teams or sixteen in the future if they expand to go play for a national championship. And I think they're cognizant of the fact, and this is all put together by Disney and ESPN.

They're cognizant of the.

Fact that you need big brands and this opens up the potential to having bigger brands as part of it. And it's one of the reasons why automatic qualifiers has been such a big topic of conversation for the Big Ten and the SEC. The conferences are so big now that if you're asking Southern cal for example, hey, why don't you guys want to play Notre Dame anymore? Well, now they've become a non They were always a non conference opponent for us, but now they're just a non conference opponent that every other year we have to travel more to have to go play them when we do travel, and we're already traveling more than it is, more than we used to. So now that doesn't really fit within the model of what they're trying to do. That's their argument at least, and I think that's part of the issue is you're kind of hurting some of the history or the.

Tradition of college football because.

Of the changing landscape, and you're not incentivizing teams to play tougher schedules.

Now.

If they have an automatic.

Qualifier, I think Southern cow will be more apt to renew the rivalry. I think right now they don't want to renew it because they're fearful that if they have Notre Dame on their schedule every year and every other day they have to go to South Bend. That could keep them from making the college football playoffs. They already are going to have to travel enough and play a tough enough Big Ten schedule. Then on top of that, having a non conference opponent like Notre Dame.

Is part of that.

They're like, yeah, we're not really sure we want to sign up for this, and so you can understand it because they're just trying to look out for their own best interest. That's what they did in the first place going to the Big Ten. But the problem is now you've got a model where we're essentially saying these thirteen people they know better than what we're witnessing on the field. So you're almost incentivized teams to if they lose a game, lose a game but not make the conference championship, so they get a buy there, and then they get the potential chance of either getting another buy if they looked apparently to be that good, or hosting.

A home playoff game.

That's an essence like what this sets up for for some of these teams where they might be saying, hey, maybe it's not best to play for a conference championship in one additional game because we still might not be rewarded for it.

Like at least in the old system, you can win.

The conference championship, you're gonna be probably ranked hyh enough to be that. And maybe that's some of the thought too, is they feel like this will take care of itself, like the four highest will be probably the four conference champions from the power for But the caveat is now they've got the ability to put another team ahead of one of those, so you don't get a Boise or an Arizona State who gets a buy automatically just because they won their conference and where.

The rankings are.

Yeah, I just think it's all it's so much conversation behind it, and it's so in a lot of ways. I feel like there's a lot of complexities to it, like if if you you know, it's just I'm so conflicted because if you win your conference, that should be an accomplishment that is rewarded, and that's what I can't seem to get away from. And it almost comes back to does there need to be more of a focus on the value of what the conference, of what the conference championship represents, Like how do you find like maybe those very issues that are being addressed going into how you seed the playoff teams should be addressed in how you're scheduling within the conference, and that weight of what the conference represents ultimately is respected and recognized by the governing bodies or the voters or whoever are the schedulers, whoever it is that's doing that. It's almost like you have to figure out a way to have that value pre playoff, and I don't know how you do that.

The five highest ranked conference champs are still going to be in the twelve team playoffs.

They get automatic, automatically in, but they don't necessarily get a.

Buy Yeah, so I don't I don't. You know. It's like, Okay, you're in. You didn't make it to the conference championship game, but because you have something about what you did in your schedule, you get a bye, but you didn't even play for your conference championship. It just seems counterproductive. It seems like it's a contradiction, and I feel like it doesn't do a justice in a service to what's going to eventually happen in the playoff in my estimation. And it's really because I mean, if you think about it, that exists this year, like you had a team that did not even qualify, Like this is how a layman would see it. They weren't even good enough to make it to their conference championship game. They were knocked out by a team that did not even make it to the college football playoff with in conference play, not early, not an early game, not a non conference matchup within the conference. You lost a critical game that costed you the right to play and compete for the conference title, and yet you qualify for the playoff and you win the playoff. Like, to me, it just creates contradictions. Which I get it. If you make it into the playoffs, the playoffs is an entirely different season. A team catches a hot streak that at the right time they're able to make it boom boom boom. But I just think that it creates an asterisk for what you're doing, especially if you were to say, Okay, they're going to be the number one rated team coming into the playoff and they didn't even play for a conference championship, but based upon X, Y and Z factors, this is how we're going to rank and rate them going into the playoff. It just I can't make sense of it. I have a hard time making sense of it. Maybe it's just me.

Yeah, well, listen, I I don't think anybody should get totally upset about it. I mean, there's worse things in the world. You could have an injured back, you could have some other things going on, some ailment.

So I just want to make sure.

Oh, we're done talking about this.

I was gonna keep going.

I did hear the fingers keep going on.

I'm just saying to close this out.

Well, my biggest issue is you're like, are we doing what's in the best interest of the players in the field.

Like I think about Clemson, I think about Arizona State, I think about you know, Boise, and you know, are you gonna sit there and say to all those players and all those teams, you did everything we asked you to do.

You won your conference.

Championship, and yet now we're not going to reward them. And what kind of message does that send, Like, either either make the conference championships matter or don't.

And then go back to a model where we don't play.

Them and your then then your conference games during the course of the regular season college football matter, and you can schedule more difficult schedule, so then if you do lose once or one or two games, you still have the opportunity to get in. I mean, what you're speaking to is Ohio State. You know when you make that example, LeVar and I know you even name them, but that's the team that ends up, you know, playing a home you know field, first round.

Game against Tennessee. They get hot, they go and to run, they win a national championship, and yet they lost to Oregon.

They lost to Michigan in one of the biggest upsets in that literally history of the game.

We never seen anything like that.

Like on their home turn, on their home field.

So that wasn't damning enough to hold them out.

And we can all you know, argue about whether or not they should or shouldn't have clearly, when they played to their capabilities, they're the best team in the country. Last year they proved that, and I think that's the concern for the committee and this almost this is more this This feels to me like they're giving themselves the flexibility to say, well, we have a team that we feel like can go win it all. Yeah, but maybe they didn't show it as much, especially late in the season, And so we're going to find a way of getting them in. And plus it's a bigger brand. I mean, how State rates. It's the number one team in regards to ratings in the country. I mean there's others that factory to Notre Dame is a part of that. Michigan, you know, Penn State does as well. There's obviously SEC schools. But the truth at Texas, the truth is, I feel like that's what this is more about.

This is more about.

Giving the College Football Playoff Committee the autonomy to be able to find a way of getting what they feel like is the more right group of teams to get to that buy, which I think based off last year and looking at how many teams were able to get on a roll and take advantage of the home playoff games, I don't know that some of those teams wouldn't want to play, you know, a home playoff game and instead of getting a buy and going to the next round, some of them might want to play that extra game, especially if they don't have to play on a conference championship. Yeah, but again that's just my opinion on it.

You know, clearly I don't feel like Jonas wants the way on this.

So I mean I like it. I like the fact that straight seeding and you want to be rewarded. You win your conference championship, you get in good. Fine. I think the NFL should do the same thing. I've said it all week, so I'm good with it.

Not that simple.

I mean.

That you're not talking about right now. They deserve a buye though, Like automatic entry is one thing.

Arizona State was sixteenth last year and got a buy No, Arizona State was sixteenth and they got a buy because they won the Mountain West.

Like Arizona State played in the SEC or a Big twelve of.

Men in the Big twelve and they got a bye week because they were the highest ranked team and they were sixteenth in the country, Like why should they get a bye? This is This is like the Texans getting a buye or getting a home game, you know, because they won the division. Like I just I don't like it. I think the buyers should go to the best teams in college football. I understand this gives them the autonomy and they're gonna want to focus on big brands because it rates and all that stuff. I only get it, but I do think you're rewarding these schools still they're gonna get in. Maybe they're gonna have to go on the road, maybe they'll get a home game, depending on where they are. But I just I like the fact that it's a straight up and the twelve.

Understood, just to correct it was it was Clemson. Clemson was a team that was sixteen. I understand what you're saying, but they're the ones that add three losses. They won the acc they got in. That was the most controversial one because they were outside of the top twelve. Arizona State started at twelve and the final Ragons, but they had won the Big twelve, which is why they end up getting the automatic birth and buy, and.

So does Arizonas. Do you think Arizona State deserve to buy?

I do if they win their conference? Otherwise, like why are we playing conference championship games?

And that they're in lies the whole conversation. It's like it takes your tail type of scenario.

Okay, but if you win your conference, you get in. That's your reward. Why should you buy.

Too nose that otherwise we're just trying to throw up like we.

Could get in, then yeah, that's what you got it, Like, it's got to be a way to find clarity on on this this particular what we just said stated two seconds ago, there has to be a way to find clarity on what that represents. There has to be like that's the circle, that's the that's the hamster whell of what this is right now? It is, Yeah, And I don't under I don't. I don't know how you how you find the balance of value with the rankings and with the conferences. I don't know.

So if you play in an inferior conference and you win that conference championship, not only do you get in, you also get a week off, you get a buye.

A week again, it's just I think it's just trying to figure out the value of it so that it doesn't come across that way. It's not fair to say that about Boise State. It's not fair to say that about Arizona State. It's not fair to say that about a team that these kids come out of high school, they transfer in the portal. They're all looking for the same exact thing, the opportunity to go get an education and play out of school where they can compete for a national title at any given point in time. If that dream is not a real dream of reality. Then that lessons and lowers the value of wanting to go to that school. So now that creates a disparity and talent going from school to school. You'll have the same two or three four schools that get the same type of players every year, that win the same games and win the championship every year. Now, if you create some parody and teams do have the opportunity to have a great season and be rewarded for it, then now you might have players that are actually willing to go to other schools outside of the main ones. And so what does that look like if we all came together and said we want to go to UNLV and make you and LV a powerhouse for the time that we're here, how is that rewarded if you go there and you're blowing teams out?

Yeah, I mean Jonas to LaVar's point, if they go UNLV is a great example, right, dani Will's taken over. They've got a bunch of money pumped into this team. It should be a talented team. They were, you know in the hunt last year. If UNLV goes undefeated this year, are you going to say to those kids and the team like, well, well, you played in a lesser conference, so you shouldn't get or be able to qualify for a buy if you end up being one of the highest ranked teams.

I mean, if they're ranked high enough, I trust the committee's going to make the right call if they're ranked high enough.

And I think that's what makes it different. And you're not wrong. I'm not judging you for thinking that way, because you're not wrong for looking at it that way. But what's wrong about it is that they did what they were supposed to do. If they go undefeed, it they did what they were supposed to do. So you're saying, basically because this committee doesn't see the value in them going undefeated, which, by the way, being out of UNLV is probably more difficult in the conference that they're in to accomplish being undefeated, stuff to do well because the resources aren't the same.

Like, look, I get it, and I understand that they should be rewarded, but I view getting into the getting into the playoff and having an opportunity to win the whole thing. You're one of the twelve teams in college football that have an opportunity to win it. You look on teams that were on the outside looking in Alabama, South Carolina, Ole Miss. Last year, they would have taken listen, we'll go on the road. We like, just get us an opportunity to be a part of this. And I do think you're rewarding them. I just don't think you should reward an inferior conference with a bye week just because they won that conference.

Here's the problem is, I think if you if you push away the group of five teams and you're going to say there's a clear separation between the power for a group of five, which in.

The language we use alone, you already do that.

So they just need to just flat out and say it and say, look, group of five, you.

Can be a part of it. But the reality is we don't ever feel like you're gonna.

Be able to have a buye and that it's gonna get to a point where it just keeps pushing us further and further down the road of creating a system that doesn't involve those schools.

And that's unfortunate for those players in those schools because they're.

Not gonna be able to have a robust enough, you know, Division one college football program.

If you're saying that to exactly what LeVar is.

Saying, and you're not going to be You're not going to be able to legitimately say this is your national.

And by the way, what do you guys care? You guys are blue bloods, You're notre Dame of Penn State. You're going to get in. What are you worried about the gum on your shoe with these other schools.

But that's the problem is it shouldn't be like that. You have to earn it. You ki'd just say, well, they're a blue blood they should be in. That was part of the issue with Alabama or Ole miss or whoever. Last year's like, oh, well, they're an SEC team, they should just get in. It's like, okay, why are we playing the games?

Then?

Like why does any of this matter?

If we just want to say, hey, these are the top teams because of their resources or their blue bloods, or you know, they rate or we think on paper they should be or on paper they make.

Better matchups, Like well, what are we doing? Like why do we play the games?

Then?

Wait, we're not going to use those results as indicators for something.

It's just qualifiers. Qualifiers is the problem here. You got to eliminate the qualifiers like, oh they were good, Oh they went undefeed it, But like, that's not, that's not, that's not.

It's a painful conversation.

Guys.
