Who are Sam and Adele? Sam is a former Army Officer and recently joined the FOCUS Military Ministry team at Australian Defence Force Academy this year. FOCUS Military Ministry is a Christian ministry who minister at ADF training bases and are committed to making Christ known in the ADF. Sam studied at ADFA and served as an Army Officer upon graduation from Royal Military College. He transferred to Chaplaincy while serving and concluded his fulltime Army service to join FOCUS. When asked about his strengths, Sam regularly replies, "My wife, Adele!" Adele is a linguist with interests in acoustic and articulatory phonetics, language acquisition and speech-motor control. Adele holds a PhD which focuses on the acquisition of speech during the first six months of life focusing on the use and development of laryngeal structures. The study highlighted the importance of changes in infant anatomy and the use of all infant sounds for analysis, even those not considered to be speech-like. Her current work is on voice quality and its interaction in sociolinguistics particularly in Australian English. Sam and Adele have a joint ministry and are blessed with a delightful daughter, Eleanor. 

Luke is a former therapist and Community Support Worker and has recently begun Pastoring at Canberra Chinese Christian Church.

Phil and Julianne have a big impact on the community of Canberra. Together they lead a Military Ministry, @Navigators Australia. They are passionate about generational ministry and investing deeply into the Defence community. They work as a team ministering to those in training, serving Defence personnel and military spouses. Phil and Julianne are active members in their local church, Stromlo Christian Church. Julianne runs @Solid Rock Ministry, who are a non-denominational Christian Ministry that aims to encourage and support female military partners and female veterans. Phil and Julianne have amazing testimonies and would love to share their stories with you.

Michael Dooley is a professional musician and classical composer who is motivated to spread the Gospel through the vessel of music.In 2019 Michael received “Citynews” award for Canberra Artist of the year for his work in musical composition.Michael has also composed scores for Christian animated films. Major commissions have included the “Torchlighters” series, two feature films based on the book of Acts - “The Messengers” and “To every nation”, “The Pilgrims Progress”, and the film “Joseph” for which Michael received a nomination in the category of “Best Score for Children’s Television” for the Biblical animated film “Joseph” in the 2016 APRA/AMCOS Screen Music Awards.Michael believes that music has an important role in the communication of the Gospel. He is a firm believer in the apologetic value of music, as his own conversion from atheism was in part due to the Gospel presented through the music of J.S. Bach.Michael's music reaches many corners of the world having spent several decades as a missionary, humanitarian volunteer and musician in Southeast Asia and the Middle East.He has donned the hat of a professional piano and composition teacher at a private music school and at a secondary school.
