Chasta and Baby Huey go backstage at Aftershock Festival to talk with Highly Suspect frontman Johnny Stevens about music, life, songwriting and what comes next for the band.

Johnny opens up about how difficult experiences fuel his creativity, why he needs to have something real to say before making an album, and how music serves as his personal catharsis. He also talks about the nerves and impostor syndrome that come with playing a festival, Highly Suspect’s refusal to stay inside one genre, and his love of everything from blues and reggae to rap.

Johnny also shares his thoughts on AI and why he believes artists who continue creating authentically without it could become more valuable.

Plus, he teases the possibility of a new Highly Suspect album and answers one of the most revealing questions of the interview: What do you love about music?
