MDC’s Sara Karnes joined Grace on Around the Ozarks Mornings to share what’s happening during the first half of June across the Ozarks! Because summer is packed with activities, the "In the Weeds" segment is expanding to twice a month, so stay tuned! 👀

Events & Programs

  • Summer Hatchery Tours: Head to Branson for daily tours at the Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM (runs through September).
  • Kids Fish Free Day: This Saturday (June 6th) at Kellogg Lake in Carthage, kids 15 and under can fish for free from 8:00 AM to noon.
  • Birds of Prey: Learn about local raptors like hawks and eagles at the Joplin Public Library on June 9th.
  • Virtual Squirrel Hunting: Tune in June 9th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM to learn the basics of this traditional Ozark pastime.
  • Pond Management Workshop: Discover how to build a natural floating wetland filtration system to clear up pond algae on June 16th.
  • Nesting Birds: Discover why local birds are building nests (even in odd places) at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center on June 17th from 10:00 AM to noon.
