Epps Era Begins at Springfield Catholic

View descriptionShare

Jordan Epps is stepping into a new chapter as the head boys basketball coach at Springfield Catholic, moving over from Springfield Central after building a strong run that included a Final Four appearance and a program defined by pace, pressure, and identity. Known for a fast, high-pressure style and quick decision-making on the floor, Epps brings a coaching philosophy shaped by his playing days at Nixa, his college career at Avila, and a rapid rise through the coaching ranks in the Missouri basketball scene.

The conversation also opens up into the bigger shift happening across college basketball, where the transfer portal and NIL deals are reshaping how programs are built and sustained. From Missouri State’s roster approach to the increasing “food chain” dynamic between high-major and mid-major programs, it highlights how recruiting has become less about development timelines and more about constant adjustment. With the April 21 transfer deadline approaching, teams are still working to stabilize rosters in a system where player movement has become the norm rather than the exception.
