The event, which officially starts today (1st May), will run until May 5th at the KZN National Botanical Gardens in Pietermaritzburg. Art in the Park exposes the public to a rich tapestry of art, ranging from all painting mediums to photography, glassworks, paintings in sand and selected craft pieces. Pretty Olifant, board member for Pietermaritzburg Tourism says with this year's theme being 'Art through the decades', the event promises to be full-on art festival...

With 70 political parties and 11 independent candidates contesting this election, My Cities Lab has created the 'My Candidate South Africa' website to allow for easier access to trustworthy information. Advocacy Lead for Open Cities Lab, Michelle Hinrichsen says all data provided by the website is sourced and verified directly from the IEC....

By Newsbreak Producer Hoosen Ebrahim - In a first study of its kind in South Africa, Nelson Mandela University Financial Planning lecturer - Raaiq Pandie - completed his master's degree, exploring the principles of Islamic finance and financial planning. The thesis assessed the Zakat - or charity - literacy levels among South African Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) professionals. Raaiq recently graduated from the University with his master's degree in business management (cum laude). The South African Muslim community, historically marginalised from the formal economy, has sought financial solutions aligned with their religious beliefs. Being an exclusion during apartheid, Islamic principles was restricted in mainstream financial services, resulting in a lack of products and services catering to Islamic principles. Pandie explains what his recommendations mean for the way Muslims manage their finances moving into the future...
