By Newsbreak Producer Tashlan Naidoo - Human rights and Child protection organisation, Operation Bobbi Bear says much more needs to be done to strengthen the justice system when it comes to protecting children who are victims of crimes and violence in the country. This comes as the country observes Child Protection Month this May. According to Statistics South Africa, approximately 45% of the households with children experienced violence against children in 2021/22. Meanwhile, the Governance, Public Safety and Justice Survey (GPSJS) found that in 2022/23, males aged 17 years and younger were more prone to any form of assault compared to their female counterparts, with males accounting for 56%, while females constituted 44,1%. Operation Bobbi Bear founder, Jackie Brandfield says greater funding for programmes are needed if the country is to win the battle against crimes against children...
