View descriptionShare

Over the past 18 months, the Bay Area has hosted a number of high-profile sporting events. Levi’s Stadium is the only venue globally to host a Super Bowl and the men’s FIFA World Cup — all in the same year. So what footprint does this last World Cup tournament leave here in the Bay Area? That’s top of mind for Matthew Atencio. He co-directs the Center for Sport and Social Justice at Cal State, East Bay and he played soccer semi-professionally.
