Some of the largest telescopes for visible-light astronomy ever built are in the US, making us a worldwide leader is cosmology and astronomy.
But now scientists are concerned that legacy could be under threat, as federal agencies in charge of US research are considering whether or not to fund two new giant telescope projects, which experts say could lead to not only discovery, but economic growth as well.
