It’s easy in a church body to rely on the same volunteers who you know will show up on time every week and get the job done. But if we aren’t encouraging the rest of the congregation to pitch in, we’ll be in danger of losing the members we’ve relied on.

But He also spoke resurrection into that same tomb. That’s the hope we cling to—not that we’ll never hurt, but that we never hurt alone. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means allowing God to fill the empty spaces with His peace. In time, your grief can become a testimony and with that comes empathy to bring hope to others.

Have you ever been upset with God? I think anyone who has experienced a tragedy has been at some point. God sees our pain. But He also knows the purpose behind every trial. And just as he raised Lazarus, he wants to bring life into our darker circumstances. Trust that God is at work even when you can’t see it. His plan for you is greater than you can imagine.

As guys, I get it, it can be really hard to cultivate meaningful relationships once you’re beyond college. But I want to urge you to make this a priority. We were made for community. It takes time to learn the voice of the Holy Spirit. And it takes God time to continue to mold us to look more and more like Christ. Many times we don’t even realize they’re coming. But in the midst of these trials my faith in our Heavenly Father remains the resilient tree in the middle of a charred forest. If we were to truly trust, hope and love the way the Bible encourages- we will see miraculous restoration in the world around us.

Jesus encourages believers throughout the Gospels to stay focused on our Heavenly Father. Distractions are everywhere. They can be sinful temptations or discouraging news- all of which can get the best of us and take our eyes off of God and onto our circumstances.

Sometimes as people we just feel separate or disconnected from those around us. We may try to fill that void with the noise of social media or the endless available streaming content, but next time you feel this disconnect, why not pause and embrace the silence for a moment? I know. This can be scary. But- Maybe this quiet isn’t a punishment; maybe it’s an opportunity to find a deeper connection, one with the Creator of the universe Himself. In Jeremiah 29:13, God tells His people, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” If you take a breath and reach for God, He will meet with you. There is no greater connection we can make.

Proverbs chapter 3 encourages believers to trust the Lord with all our heart and rely not on our own understanding. Maybe you have yet to see a breakthrough you’ve been praying for. Keep praying. Keep believing. And keep trusting in your Heavenly Father. His plans are to prosper you and not to harm you. To give you hope and a future.

Take a deep breath. Good, now take one more. Okay, heartbeat is slowing, now let’s tackle the anxiety. God, your Word in Psalm 56:3 says, “When I am afraid I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid.” So here I am, trusting you.
